For you guys who care to find out what we're talking about, this article is a good summary:

http://www.torontosun.com/Sports/Hockey ... 0-sun.html

Thank you. For years everyone just assumed I hate Alfuckssen 'cause he's a good player on my team's supposed biggest rivals (Toronto has other rivals that are bigger than Ottawa, but I degress). That's never been the case.

I've always hate him 'cause of the way he acts. He simply acts like a spoiled brat. When he doesn't get his way or he's losing, he goes and he does something stupid that shows no respect for the other player(s). If he did it to one of his "friends" in Sundin, he'll do it to anyone. Putting Tucker's head into the boards 'cause Tucker was annoying him (that's his job) was a chicken-shit, spoiled brat move.

Heck, at the end of game two in Anaheim with 2 seconds left in the game and Ottawa down 2-0, the puck went into the corner and Pronger stood in front of it facing the boards to protect the puck. What does that fuckstick do? He checks him relatively hard in the back. There isn't even a chance for them to win and he does it.

You can't have a waste of skin and bones like that as a captain. It was the fucking second period and they were only down one goal for crying out loud. He may have cost them the series with that idiotic move. Anaheim was short handed with Pronger out and all he did was piss them off. Any good he may have done by finally doing SOMETHING in the playoffs and "leading" his team to the Cup finals is wiped out. I've always maintained they win in spite of him and never because of him. He's basically the Kobe Bryant of the NHL.

On top of all that, he tries to keep up this persona of being a gentle, nice guy. He's very political and he tries to make people think he gives a shit. He's even on the NHLPA exec committee. But he has only proven over the years that the only one he cares about is himself. He's the only athlete who I hate..in any sport.

You have someone like that as your captain and it poisons the team. That's why they've always underperformed IMO. So what does Ottawa do? They give him a lifetime contract. Because of that, the time they'll ever have a chance to win the Cup is when he retires.

I don't watch hockey at all, but given the article and your input, I'd imagine that the team would be willing to pay money to break the contract. Even a lifetime (!!) contract has to have some sort of breakout clause. (Who the fuck creates a lifetime contract??)

No, they have to not look like idiots now. And he did score the only two goals in yesterday's game when they lost the Cup (making him the true Kobe of the NHL)

(rings in a rousing cheer as Canada's most prized sporting possession comes home to roost in Anaheim)

Maybe I should start watching hockey after all!

Game 3 set the record for the lowest rating ever for a sports event aired at a prime time slot.

Don, do you ever cheer up? I'm not even sure whose parade you're trying to piss on here.

Heh, I was trying to needle ya, and it looks like I accomplished the exact opposite. From what I read it sounded like the Ducks earned it though.

And I should start watching hockey again. It's a fun sport, I love the speed.

It's kind of weird, every time the Lakers won the championship, I was like "meh", but this actually makes me want to cheer the Ducks on.

It's because they're a mythical team led by Emelio Estavez! =P
