May now we'll all finally see that Tom Brady is just a very good quarterback with an amazing team and coaching staff as opposed to his "best" status if his team does very well in his absence (just to add fuel to the fire: I think Emmitt Smith is BY FAR the most overrated running back in NFL history; he was nothing more than a good back IMO never to be talked about in the same breath as Payton, Brown, or Sanders). They sure as hell ain't gonna go undefeated (they needed the Hand of God to beat Baltimore last year) and no one's gonna let them score 50 passing TDs again, with or without Brady (did you see when he hurt himself how there were 3 guys by Moss and it took the underthrow for him to get it?). But if this team goes really well again and is the class of the AFC East and one of the top teams in the AFC then we can truly see how small the "Brady effect" is.

Other than that, it was a bit of a shock to see Indy falter against Chicago last night that much. Da Bears beat them pretty handidly. They looked like last years' Bills on offense. Who woulda thunk that Buffalo would go on to score 34 while Indy would only score, what, 13? Couple that with New England coming down to earth and BARELY getting by the sad-sack Chiefs and the Steelers may end up being the class of the AFC. Not sure how strong they're gonna be over the course of the year. Lots of parity in the AFC from the looks of it. NFC don't really look like they've got a super team either. Sure there's Dallas and the Giants and maybe Philly if they can keep it up, but no real standouts.

It's gonna be a fun year in football

I was surprised by the Indy loss. I thought they were a sure thing when I chose them in my pool. :)

I didn't catch most of the other games except the Ravens, for obvious reasons. I am very excited with how well Flacco did. If he can keep it up, he'll be Baltimore's new golden boy. We haven't had a good QB in ages.

Take the words "in ages" out and I agree with your last sentence. I mean you guys won a Superbowl with freakin' Trent Dilfer for cryin' out loud. His entire recipe for success was not fucking up.......kinda like Brady :-)

Well, remember, "in ages" proportionately for us is only 8 years. :) The team's only a little over 10 years old. heh And Dilfer wasn't bad, but he wasn't great. Matt Stover and our defense won the SuperBowl! heh
