Lying to Letterman just doesn't bode well for your credibility.

Man was he pissed. 9 minutes out of what, 45 that he gets without commercials?

The kicker was the live feed with Couric. Without it, Dave's just being a rambling idiot. With it, he's got a great point and it makes McCain look like an ass....assuming you believe Dave that he told him he was canceling to go straight to the airport

Americans have voted in total idiots before. At least they protect your freedom from those third world countries who would otherwise invade and conquer the world with terrorism, evil, axis, abortion, gay marriage, weapons of mass destruction, chemicals, France, nuclear, and hidden agendas.

Oh he railed on him even harder last night.

McCain was introducing Sarah Palin to world leaders here in New York...like taking your Daughter to Work day.

He didn't say specifically that, he said he had to rush back to Washington to help save the economy... that's what he said when he told everyone he was putting his campaign on hold. Not only did he stop by to see Couric, but he spoke at a Clinton benefit dinner and a few other things before finally heading down to DC. As Jon Stewart pointed out, it took McCain 24 hours to make it from NYC to DC... it's just sad. First you make a rash decision to suspend your campaign 10 days into an emergency, then you claim it's a rush back to the capital... after we go to 4 out of 6 of our publicity events.

Letterman claimed numerous times during that rant that he spoke to McCain and was told he was rushing directly to the airport, hence is "do you need a ride to the airport" comment when he was watching the Today Show feed.

But regardless, it was a clear diss and obviously not for "emergency" reasons. He was still campaigning just in a different way by pretending to care about the crisis and shifting people's attention away from a fledgling campaign

My favorite part is when the Daily Show talked about it and said it was because McCain saw some VERY troubling information and they show a line graph of his polling numbers dropping sharply from 50 to 40%, then they correct themselves and put up a graph of the stock market and the line looks exactly the same ;)
