I had been trying to find a car for a year now and finally found one that I could afford and it was the one I wanted. I purchased a 2006 Acura TL with 129,000 miles on it. The car is in excellent condition and most of the mileage was from highway driving. The couple that owned it only had one accident right after they bought the car. This thing kicks the shit out of my 99 Saturn SL2. I love it but my wallet won't like the gas prices since it takes premium and only gets about 25MPG. Still, I'm happy.

Fun! I currently dont own a car, but a 2006-2008 would also be what i would look for. I liek Acura, they are crazy comfortable and 100k+ miles on those cars is not a lot. In fact 100k+ miles from a 2006, it HAS to be all highway miles as thats a lot of driving. Congrats.

I'm probably only going to tint the windows down to 35% (MO legal) since it is a black on black car just to save the leather from any more sun wear. The thing was super clean (car term for well kept) and 90% of the service done was at a local Acura dealer. It had an accident right after the original owner purchased it (Front Airbag deployment) but then they drove it for 129K. It rides so smooth.

That sucks. My old car was 5% all around with 20% on the front windows (legal up here is now 35% but you can get away with 20%). Word of advice: if you sit tall in your chair, add a 5% sunstrip. You'd be amazed how much that helps.

It has factory 17" 's, yes? Not gonna change those out? Maybe lower it a couple of inches, add a skirt or something? If you're concern is more fuel savings, what about a chip and set it to more fuel-efficient settings?

Just don't do those stupid wings (tall spoiler), they're horrible. The cars look so much better with ones that ain't no taller than a few inches.

I may get some better wheels but since I'm 6'4" I don't like the idea of lowering it. Yeah they are the factory 17's and they are nice looking wheels. I was thinking about going with the flat or something like these (http://www.wheelfire.com/scontent/Wheel ... ption=Base). $775 isn't bad I think for Tires and Wheels. I'll definitely look into going with a 5% sunstrip.

Wow that is some mileage on that car. Does the car have a salvaged title from the airbag deployment?

I bought a 2008 Mazda 3 back in July of 2010 after I was in an accident in my 1992 Camry. I used the Hertz rent 2 buy program. Most people will tell you not to look at rental cars, but the cars are rigorously maintained and I had it inspected by a trusted mechanic before I bought it.

I still also own a 1965 mustang.... that has hung out in garages for most of the last 6 years.

No, the car has a clean title. I looked at Enterprise but they didn't have any cars in my area that were worth anything.

I admit, this thread had me facepalming the ricer upgrades, until this statement. I still have my 65 vette, but I really want to get a 68 mustang (shelby clone) again. Sexy cars are sexy.

What is a ricer upgrade? The wheels? The Tint? I'm not going out and getting skirts and lowering and totally Fast and Furiousing the thing.

Actually I have gone back and toned down some of the car. I had to put new springs on it and raised it back up. The only ricey elements on it are the lighted door stills and the big subs (just my opinion of course). Putting in the newer engine has been an electrical nightmare though. I actually went to pick it up finally and the wiring to the fuel pump had an issue so now back to the waiting game for that to be addressed.

Hey, I just skimmed the thread, but I saw "lowering", "spoilers", "tint" and "rims" along the way -- that's ricer in my book when it's an acura/civic/etc, just slap a BSA racing sticker on the back and embrace it. lol. Even if I am being unfair (I'm not, I live in Vancouver with a huge Asian pop), I was more just excited to see someone mention an actual pimp vehicle, even if the bastard is letting it's beauty hide in garages for the time being :)

Oh and by the way, I think Acura is a fine car. None of the things you mentioned are auto-ricer, as far as your 'actual' planned upgrades go...just keep zeus away from your car!

That reminds me a lot of the 1969 Camaro ss convertible my dad just sold. Lemans blue with the white stripe. SexXxy. I already miss that car actually.

You can do some of those things without turning into a rice rocket. The skirt, rims, and a bit of lowering with some tint ain't just reserved for them Asians

So I just ended up buying the iSimple plus the Peripheral HDRT and a Y cable in order to have the HDRT use my existing antenna. I am thinking I might attempt to do this install by myself. The site I bought through has plenty of install documents in order to guide me through the process and their tech support is pretty quick to respond.

The two shops around here (Audio Express and Custom Sounds) wanted over $150 for the installs. Best Buy was was only going to charge $40 but didn't do the HDRT component install and then I'd have to pay retail for both components plus the upcharge on the cable.

Wish me luck I guess.
