Is apparently to kill every guy who could possibly help you. I've come to realize that it seems to be an accepted norm in basically any kind of fiction. It doesn't matter if you're trapped in a island in the middle of nowhere, abducted by aliens, or whatever, whenever you're faced against impossible odds with a lot of other humans in the same vincinity the first thing everyone does is start killing each other, and I'm not talking about worlds where killing each other might be beneficial (e.g. only one guy can escape alive, for example). Of course usually we have the hero who actually decides that working together in the face of impossible odds is a good thing, and sure I get that the point is that human beings are bad people. Except that you don't see natives in random islands or whatever just start killing themselves. Altruism is a product of natural selection. If you're in a place where survival is not certain, it's usually better to work together than trying to kill every one else around you. I know people like to point out the Stanford jail experiment but the experiment is clearly trying to stir people to a certain kind of behavior. If those guys are roleplaying high school students instead of jail guards I'm willing to bet the experiment will turn out to be rather uneventful.
I mean, I don't know if you'll expect everyone to immediately put aside their differences when being abducted by aliens but you'd think people wouldn't start by trying to kill each other without a good reason in the face of desperation. Of course since we don't really have examples of people really abducted by aliens and forced into some kind of survival horror show thing there's no real way to confirm this, but you'd think you want to at least kill whatever that's causing the problem first before you turn around and kill every random guy around you first.
