A case for a model to repair the world's desertification

Allan Savory makes his case, showing evidence, for a process which has been repairing lands that have been suffering desertification - ultimately leading to the reversal of climate change throughout the world. We already know widely that having heavy levels of vegetation increases the overall production of oxygen, the removal of carbons and toxins from the air, and theoretically can increase humidity and rainfall in a region, and regulate temperatures - he covers this briefly in the presentation as well.

This certainly seems more reasonable than hoping some kind of miracle technology can cope with all the problems, and even without considering anything related to climate change it's probably a good idea to have less desert in the world anyway.

It's ironic that 3rd World Nations are the battle ground for the green movement and not the wealthier established agricultural corporations of the US. I guess it's coz the people there suffer the most from floods, famine, desertification and industrial pollution.

Weather gets ridiculous here, we go inside and escape it. They start doing things like dying. That usually requires attention first :-)

Also in order to get developed we had to basically dick over the world with pollution - it's in our (and the green movement's) best interest to make sure that when other countries reach their industrial revolution/developing phase that they don't proceed to further dick over the world.

James Burke was talking about this shit 20 years ago. "After the Warming" had an idea of carbon credits: trade green tech to third-world countries for carbon credits to give first-world countries more time to convert their stuff.

Of course, the whole idea is just as much of a pipe dream as the UN. There is no world authority, so it's never going to be enforceable.
