  • Reading The Fionavar Tapestry by Guy Gavriel Kay; anyone who's read this, is it just me, or is there a more than just striking resemblance to the subject matter, characters, style, themes, and just about everything else in this book to The Wheel of Time?

  • Somehow, we still tolerate each other. Eventually this will be the only forum left.

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Wheel of Time was released between 1990 and now, whereas The Fionavar Tapestry was released between 1982 and 1986. The major difference is that one is a trilogy that actually ends whereas the other is just a pumped out factory work. The simularities are almost criminal

"He began to grasp the magnitude of this man who was trying to surmount, by sheerest resolution, the movement of the wheel of time and the shuttling of the Loom." -from The Wandering Fire, book two of The Fionavar Tapestry.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>I'm beginning to think the entire WoT series is just an amalgam of various plagarisms. The connections to Dune and LotR are almost criminal too.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I haven't read Dune, it's one I've actually wanted to read but have never got around to it. Wheel of Time is almost the same story as the Fionavar Tapestry, it's just a matter if you'd rather read it in 1000 pages or 10,000 pages.</div>
