Well, unfortunately I deleted all my old archives of the Shrine from HELLA back when, or I'd be able to do some of this myself, but I propose we undertake a project to get people's start dates correct. I mean, we're practically historical-aged in terms of age for an independent gaming message board anyway, and I just think it's cool to see when people started showing up (and I get a micro-ego-boost out of knowing people have been posting on something I started for a long ol' time...but Sine's been the one doing the work for hella long now...again kudos to Sine for hosting and keeping the site running for the last 7 years!)

Well, this is kinda easy for me...

Just had to look up the North American release date for Wild Arms for the Playstation, which was 4/30/97. So my first post at The Shrine would have probably been in May of 1997.

And now I'm back...in May of 2005. That is kinda freaking me out...

Ya, pretty sure Wild Arms-era for me too...followed Gman and some others here from that board that had Brak! and SpamMan (name escapes me atm).

Sega-Saturn.com, the site that was sued for cybersquatting.

Changed EsquE: I'll give you about a week after it came out.
Changed Kali O.: June 1997, for lack of a more accurate date

On a side note, Mental, do you remember the dates for some of the changes here? It seems like the History section is in badly need of updates. I could have swore that I updated that page before then.

I still need to update the descripts of the archived forums, too.

Uh, well, we could do a "Shrine History Project" too. I updated the History while I maintained the board, but I left for about six years of on- and off-again posting, so I really don't remember many changes between then and now. You'd have to get them from everyone else.

I was part of the sega-saturn.com migration as well, although I don't think I started posting at the Shrine until that summer. My guess would be July or possibly August of '97.

Oh, and btw - hey EsquE, good to see you again!

I came in during the Wild Arms phase as well. I was doing anything but looking for a job after School was finished.
Sure were a lot of posters back then. I'd be lucky to remember 5 originals.

Gray can probably help me with this, but I'd say October of 1998 for me. That sounds about right. I was long after Wild Arms and the disappointment of FF7 and I think that's the time when Gray and I were playing uni-league ball hockey

Changed Agent 57: S-S.com migration wasn't until after tOWS was established on my server, so I'm putting that on 1998.
Changed kent, the Gray, Zeus, The Seeker, Garford, Sephy,
Changed Flip: I have an exact date of merging tOWS to the new server
Changed Oracle: May 15
Changed Manshoon: I'll take the posting date
Changed Andrew, Killer Bee: According to the Wayback Machine, the waning part of the MTH was around April 1999. I'll just do Jan 1999. Also, I merged all of your nicks, so that's why your posting count is higher.

Speaking of MTH, I wonder if there's any old posters from there we could invite? Who's Shawn Shruck? I noticed that name pop up on searchs for MTH.

I was here just before the Electronic RPG Forum switched over to the Aqua Demesne (AD was 50 times better :)) which wasn't long at all before all the Wild ARMs posts came in, spliting the forum into Ruminations and Gameplay by the time the Shrine itself debuted. Funny that so many people post here because of Wild ARMs. I still play that now and again. Love the music.

Shawn used to be the maintainer of Eblana, before it withered away. He still has a page up and running here, after all this time. Also, he's getting married in Arlington TX next weekend, and I'm going to be there for it. :)

Brilliant music...finally broke down and bought the soundtrack a few years ago...great little old fashioned RPG with some awesome dungeons. Just with they'd foregone the 3D altogether...

Yeah, ain't it great? :) Up until March I hadn't been out of the state for an extended period in 13 years or so, but now I'm finally in a position where I can go Outside on a regular basis. Hell, I consider these trips to be mini-adventures for me. I've never driven in a big city before (no, Anchorage doesn't count), but now I'll get to check out DFW, not to mention Austin (doing a quick trip down and back to visit another friend I haven't seen in 10 years), so that should be exciting.

The remake (Alter Code F) also has incredible music. Worth looking into.

If I'm not mistaken, they were bringing the remake over here, though I could be wrong.

I grabbed the original Wild ARMs OST way back when I was collecting VGMs. Probably need to get back to that. Anybody know where a good place to grab that sort of thing is?

I still occasionally wonder what happened to Bob Rork.

Ah well.

I'll make sure to send wedding pictures to those interested.

He's in Japan, last I heard. He IMed me about a year ago. We talked briefly, but I was in the middle of getting projects done and we haven't talked much since.

Done and done.

As for my start date here, I know for certain I started posting before my second semester, freshmen year. And I know for certain I started when I was at my parent's place. So that means I either started the summer of 1999, or the winter of 1999/2000. I think it's more likely to be the summer of 1999, so let's say August 1999.

Heh, yeah, though I've really just been a lurker; even more so with all the wedding-related craziness lately.

I really think my one big splash on TOWS was some goofy post in the middle of a board war wherein I used jokes about nipple clamps, leading to a few posts of "hahaha (n/t)" and Tortolia calling me the "Voice of Diffuusion", as opposed to either he or Kupek being a "Voice of Reason".
