I plan on after graudating Southeast Missouri state with an English Writing degree and a mass communications minor, I will go back to school either at Vatterot college or ITT-tech to earn my associates in Management Information Systems and then continue on to work for some sort of corporation in a slightly comfortable office position making $40 - $45 a year. Since I will be graduating with my english BA that should hopefully take off at least 1 semesterof school right there, then on top of the credits I would have already earned with my math courses and visual basic and info systems 1 which I plan on taking next semester, I would be able to graduate which ever university within 16 months (roughly a year an a half). By using the English degree I would be able to show potential employers that I know how to communicate with a customer or office personnel both verbally and typed, same with the mass comm minor, which basically means i can make it all look pretty. The MIS degree is something I really want. I just wanted to ask if this is the right path you all would go if you were in my situation, graduating from college in a year, not really being able to utilize an english major unless you are teaching (which I will use as a last resort.).

I'm not really doing MIS, but I'm sort of in a related field.

MIS really depends on how strong in IT and Business as it is at the baseline basically justifying technological implementation to the organization, from a business standpoint.

If you are comfortable with supplying and justifying solutions to your stakeholders, it is not a bad path to take on as it is not a common field. I’ll recommend having a solid software engineering and management background or related skills.

Things will often get very technical, as you need to learn and explain some of the more commonly used solutions in detail, so be prepared for it.
