After watching this years Pride Final Conflict, I really am led to believe this. He was up against Mirko Filipovich (Best known as Cro Cop); widely regarded as the most dangerous striker in the world today. A little while ago, Fedor demolished Nog (Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira) who was widely considered to be the best mixed martial artist of this time (From Brazil, uses BJJ primarilly). He also has devastating wins over Kevin Randleman and Mark Coleman who have both been considered the best North American fighters. He is a fighter who didn't get his record in stomping no names, he won it by fighting the toughest and the best opponents in the world. Fedor lost one match early in his career due to doctor stoppage, a cut on his eye due to a secontion of his opponents glove getting caught; in the rematch, 5 years later, this past spring, Fedor returned the favour by avenging his loss with a brutal beating; the fight went as follows, after the first round, the doctor refused to allow Kohsaka to continue.
Fedor is not human, he is a cyborg of some sort. He has so much knowledge of fighting that it is insane; the styles he learned originally were Sambo, judo, and boxing; he has incorporated jiu jitsu, Muay Thai, and a number of other styles; his knowledge of fighting is vast, and he is not limited; he can do everything, knows when to do everything, and does it all extremely fast and well. He is to martial arts, as Michaelangelo and Da Vinci were to renaisance art. Fedor just turned 29 as well, he hasn't even reached his prime yet; and it shows, he just keeps getting better. Not only is he the best fighter, but he is the best by quite a margin. I do think, the other current major Russian fighter, Sergei Kharitonov could actually end up being the #2 fighter in the world.
The beauty of this fight against Cro Cop is that Fedor went in with a broken hand; something that normally is not allowed.
Anyways, some other notable fights were Arona's win over Wanderlei Silva. Arona was very disrespectful towards Silva afterwards. Arona was then defeated in the finals by the younger brother of Ninja Rua, Shogun Rua; a very young fighter of only 23 or 24 years. It was a very emotional ending to what could possibly be the best MMA PPV of all time.
