I'm not quite sure what drove me to sign up for an account and post, but I figured if someone (or something) else was doing the driving, I might as well enjoy the ride. So here I am.
Last time I came here was over a couple years ago under the name of "Ganath", and oddly enough, even though I've changed my avatar it was the name "Ganath" that brought me back here.
Every now and then I like to do random Google searches for random figments of my past. Tonight, I had decided to do a search for "Ganath".
Aside from the usual Star Wars references (apparently "Ganath" is some planet in some galaxy far far away) and the occasional reference to a Mr. Ganath Obeyesekere (who, based on my follow up search, seems to be some sort of cultural historian, particularly regarding Hawaiians and Native Americans), I came across a link to what was probably my last post here a couple of years ago.
I wasn't sure if it was me or someone else with the same name, but after reading the argument about the usefulness of science for pure science and why we should keep NASA and et cetera, I figured it at least sounded like something I'd say.
After browsing the forums the bit, something bit me in the ass and I ended up on the registration page.
However, when signing up, I decided I needed a new alias. After all, when I Google searched "Ganath", I just got way too many results for my liking. The whole reason why I'd kept going by the name of "Ganath" was it's uniqueness.
So I settled upon "Anid Maro" after a satisfactory search that yielded exactly zero results.
It's nice to see a lot of old names that I recognize. Just to list a few off of the Daily Stuph page: Flip, Zeus, Sine, Barrrettt, Oracle, Agent 57, The Seeker (Damn you!!! *shakes fist angrily*), Eric, Ish, Seriphina, and some others. Good to see that this place is the same close knit community that I'd left.
I also noticed a few new names, which is good too, and maybe if I stick around this time I'll get to know you too.
It's about time I ended this longwinded crapball post, so in closing I'd like to thank Sine for getting rid of that little ticking timer that would "save" our posts or something if we took too long typing them, because to be frankly honest, that thing always pissed me off.
