I'm not quite sure what drove me to sign up for an account and post, but I figured if someone (or something) else was doing the driving, I might as well enjoy the ride. So here I am.

Last time I came here was over a couple years ago under the name of "Ganath", and oddly enough, even though I've changed my avatar it was the name "Ganath" that brought me back here.

Every now and then I like to do random Google searches for random figments of my past. Tonight, I had decided to do a search for "Ganath".

Aside from the usual Star Wars references (apparently "Ganath" is some planet in some galaxy far far away) and the occasional reference to a Mr. Ganath Obeyesekere (who, based on my follow up search, seems to be some sort of cultural historian, particularly regarding Hawaiians and Native Americans), I came across a link to what was probably my last post here a couple of years ago.

I wasn't sure if it was me or someone else with the same name, but after reading the argument about the usefulness of science for pure science and why we should keep NASA and et cetera, I figured it at least sounded like something I'd say.

After browsing the forums the bit, something bit me in the ass and I ended up on the registration page.

However, when signing up, I decided I needed a new alias. After all, when I Google searched "Ganath", I just got way too many results for my liking. The whole reason why I'd kept going by the name of "Ganath" was it's uniqueness.

So I settled upon "Anid Maro" after a satisfactory search that yielded exactly zero results.

It's nice to see a lot of old names that I recognize. Just to list a few off of the Daily Stuph page: Flip, Zeus, Sine, Barrrettt, Oracle, Agent 57, The Seeker (Damn you!!! *shakes fist angrily*), Eric, Ish, Seriphina, and some others. Good to see that this place is the same close knit community that I'd left.

I also noticed a few new names, which is good too, and maybe if I stick around this time I'll get to know you too.

It's about time I ended this longwinded crapball post, so in closing I'd like to thank Sine for getting rid of that little ticking timer that would "save" our posts or something if we took too long typing them, because to be frankly honest, that thing always pissed me off.

I think I'd prefer "It's Ganath, bitches - now all of you bow down. That's right. No, closer to the floor than that."

BTW, Anid, this is Mental...had a nick change myself a few weeks ago. ;)

Welcome back. Some of the new names are old people who decided it was time for a change.

We're going on 10 years old now. Another few years and I'll have been posting here half my life =)

We're actually only technically going on nine years, I think. We are coming up on ten, though, but it'll be eleven months before we get there.

9 years and about 19 days old we are right now =)

And by the way Ganath, I sense a bit of hostility =P

Heh, it just sounded like an appropriate greeting to give, considering how often we butted heads. Smile

Speaking of butting heads, I noticed Ruminations and several other forums have been locked and archived. Was there just not enough traffic or what?

Part 1: Heh, I butted heads a lot with several people here. G-man was by far the biggest one, but I think his feud against Sine overshadowed mine =P

Part 2: With this new forum set-up, traffic is just A LOT easier to manage; Sports and Ruminations were closed shortly after the switchover. It is just easier to manage fewer forums, I think everyone who was around when the change was made is fine with it.

To be honest, I'm not sure we shouldn't all switch back to a single forum. The multiple-forums thing was from back before we switched over to phpBB.

Yeah, with the superior script, it was a lot easier to navigate the new posts in multiple forums. Now, it's such a pain in the ass that it probably is better to just have one forum 'cause by the time you're done navigating one forum here now, you've had more than enough

I'm personally happy with keeping Daily Stuph separate from gaming stuff at least.

I am very against merging all the forums into one, especially daily stuph and gamethought. I think the three forums we have is the sweet spot.

Nope, I did bookmark it.

I just didn't bookmark it from my girlfriend's place. :)

Actually, I had to write a report for class that was due today. Did research yesterday, wrote it this morning.

I ought to stop doing that, but as long as my grades hold, I know I'll keep procrastinating to the last second.
