I'm no huge fan of PETA and I eat meat, but this is just sick to watch.

Eh, the actual experiment doesn't bother me too much - but I have a hard time finding any scientific value behind the experiment itself that could not have been achieved by less extreme methods (edit: reading a slight clarification on the goals of the study made more sense - the initial link attempts subtle misdirection...PETA propaganda).

Better than tasering real people and risk killing them. PETA just doesn't seem to understand that if we do as they ask, we will be forced to do these type of tests on real people and raise the death toll.
Of course, PETA only cares about the "cute" animals that make oinking screams, and it betters their case that they show how "human" they look. But, we're testing them because their brains are close to a humans, and because we going to chop them up into bacon anyway.
Face it...we eat meat. We aren't going to stop eating meat. We aren't going to stop experimenting on animals either. We prefer dead pigs to dead humans, and ultimately, so does PETA, but they won't admit it.

I love how they link to a Google search form of the article with parts of it highlighted, instead of the original PDF.

I do believe in humane treatment of food and fur/leather animals - strongly so. However, until I can convince myself to become vegetarian (which may not happen), I can't go too far overboard on the animal-rights bandwagon.
My charity focus is switching to global warming, anyway - animals have had fairly crappy lives for quite some time, but global warming increasingly has a very big chance of killing all of us (the animals included), so preventing that's what I want to put my energy into.

Thats a good way to put it, i too believe in humane treatment of food and fur/leather animals. Human testing wouldnt bother me, atleast we can understand what is going on. I bet there are a ton of people out there who would do it if highly compensated.
