For me it's sodoku. I keep seeing this pop up and I know it is kind of puzzle, but beyond that I know absolutely nothing. But I see it more and more these days and it seems to have a pretty huge following.

That got me thinking about other big cultural phenomenons I've missed out on. What about you?

I actually didnt know what sodoku was until I bought Brain Age for the Nintendo DS. It's basically a grid-system puzzle that has you fill in numbers based on certain rules.

I've only managed to finish one on Brain Age so far since they are kind of time consuming and I find them frustrating at times (not because of the difficulty, but because Im sick of looking at a screen full of numbers).

What cultural phenomenon have I missed out on? Texas Hold 'em Poker.... I know how to play, but I really really don't play it ever or follow its TV forms like a lot of people I know do.

American Idol, 24, CSI, Survivor/Big Brother/Real World/Bachelor(ette), Pokemon/Naruto, and WoW/MMOs in general.

And for the record, it's spelled "sudoku".

iPoDs and cellphones (Blackberries included), although it's more of a choice than anything. I just don't get it. I love technology as much as the next guy, but I don't want my life run by them (cellphones) and don't need them to be with me AT ALL TIMES (iPoDs). Even my PSP and DS are only for commuting or some in-house gaming. I don't get this "constantly connected" stuff.

Maybe I'm just old :-)

Im in the same boat with American Idol, Survivor/Big Brother/Real World/Bachelor(ette), Pokemon/Naruto, and 24.

I have however played WoW and DAOC for MMOs, and I do like watching CSI.

I guess I can say that I'm about the same as this, except for Survivor, I watched the first season, we would have survivor parties and stuff, and after that people at work stopped caring, and so did I.

That's one cultural pheneomenon you really need to get in on. Should be pretty easy since you live in LA and all. :)

Oh wait, perhaps you're play on Black Lotus's side of the field? I'm sure he could provide a few suggestions. :)

24 is definitely worth it. I recommend that to everyone. CSI is crap. The others, it depends on how big of a junkie of the various genres you are. If I knew you were a fellow junkie, I'd definitely give them the thumbs up. :)

Well, I've got a cellphone, but I try not to use it too much. iPods (I've got a zen Micro actually) are cool for work at times, especially if youwork someplace noisy. I'm not on the Blackberry bandwagon quite yet, though I want to be.

I do a lot better when I'm outside of L.A., actually. I am all about content over image, and this does not fly with a lot of L.A. women.

L.A. has a (largely justified) reputation for superficiality. But it's a big city, there's a lot of different types of girls. That said, there's definitely a big difference from the Bay Area.

There are. If I wasn't working alone by myself in my apartment most of the time, I'd undoubedly have a girlfriend by now.

I'm in no rush, though. It's still fun to have a trashed apartment and/or waste an afternoon on the Internet and not get shit about it.

As far as I know, LA women are either lucky little ladies in the city of light or just more lost angels in the city of night.
