Essentially what is covered is that Pride will be hosting their first US event in Las Vegas on October 21st. Several fighters were present at the event including Fedor, Shogun, Phil Baroni, Josh Barnett, and Vitor Belfort. Mike Tyson also made an appearance. To sum things up, if you want to see the best of the best in MMA, this is the show that has to be seen. If you want to see real heavyweight competition, then UFC is not the show to be watching; as Josh Barnett said, there is no competition there, he left the UFC as Heavyweight Champion, and this is when the UFC heavyweight division still had some decent fighters in it like Randy Couture (who he had TKO'd).
The event seems to be using all of the recognizable US fighters that Pride has (Aside from Rampage). I suppose next week if Babalu defeats Chuck, Silva will possibly be added to this card.
Two fights have been announced:
Fedor vs. Coleman
Shogun vs. Randleman
Coleman and Randleman both former UFC heavyweight champions, and very well recognized fighters in the US. Pride wanted to get Sylvia from the UFC to face Fedor, it would have probably been a 30 second fight, but it looks like, according to that blonde guy, Sylvia wants no part. Coleman will last at least 90 seconds, though I would rather see him fight Shogun personally.
Lately, the MMA industry has been expanding within the US, but only with the UFC, and the UFC is still the minor leagues, where fighters get their starts. It is in Pride where the real competition is. I do think that with Pride the MMA market is going to skyrocket to sizes much larger than even Dana White dreamed of. Though, I do hope that the Pride crowds aren't as stupid as most UFC crowds (LA has the worst crowds of everyone, unless it is a boxing match with very few grappling and submission attempts the LA crowds will boo). I am not sure if the UFC regulations are due to the UFC or due to Nevada (which is where most UFC events are held): The UFC allows elbows on the ground, but not kicks, stomps, or knees; Pride is the exact opposite. The difference is that many UFC fights have ended due to cuts from sloppy and relatively innefective elbows, whereas stomps, kicks, and knees on the ground have led to many TKO victories (which are legitimate, losing due to a cut is a crappy situation).
Anyways, the poster:
