Yo Sine - would you consider disabling new user registration to lock out these spambots?

An easier solution would be to switch to the old, superior script :-)

They seem to be able to get around e-mail verification and those goofy 'type what you see in the box' tests. They are ubeatable!

Why dont we just set it up so Admins have to enable all newly created accounts before they can post. My WoW guild does that, same forum script (well same base anyways).

I kind of think they're funny.

They also post more than the rest of us combined. They're the action around here now

I don't have a serious problem with them, but it would be nice to get rid of them.
Chances are, if you replace the image algorithm, Sine, they'll go away. They probably just have a crack for this one...

Probably need to update the phpBB. Fucking script has more emergency security versions than Windows.
Or just get a new version of something else altogether. Have no time to modify it anymore, but I don't really have time to work on the site anymore, either.

I changed it to admin approval on registration. There are about 10 new registrations a day!! Unfortunately, I wouldnt be able to tell if the person is legit or not......

I'm going to disable the admin thing, since I still want new users to join, but I put in a fix to one of the variables which should throw off most of the spambots.
Honestly, I don't know why the image thing isn't working. I consider it a serious security hole. PhpBB is starting to really annoy me.
