Unlike the Gracie slaughter, this one actually lived up to the hype. I'd never seen Hughes struggle that badly to slam someone and I've never seen him so close to defeat as he was in the second round. Too bad Penn/Pinn didn't have better conditioning or he would definitely have won this.

BJ Penn. He's a really good fighter, and was the last guy to defeat Matt Hughes. I didn't see the PPV myself, but I am sure this would have been a good one. He slaughtered Matt Hughes the first time in the first round.

Now I suppose the next fight for Matt Hughes is GSP, since GSP is the actual number 1 contender and Penn was the replacement. I would have really liked to have seen the fight. Even though it wasn't BJ's night, I am still a fan.

Maybe they'll have it up on YouTube soon. Definitely worth watching.

Saint Pierre was in attendence and he talked a little smack at Matt after the fight. after the fight was over, he got into the ring, grabbed the mic from Joe Rogan, and claimed that Matt's victory wasn't very impressive.

I can't wait to see that one. GSP vs. Matt Hughes =)

GSP is the most explosive fighter that they have in the UFC right now. He levels his opponents, and has only ever been stopped once, and that was by Matt Hughes; of course, that was a while ago now, and it seems like he has improved, he did go through BJ Penn with one eye afterall.
