It is not sure how much the deal is, or for how many fights. Though it is reported that this is the largest contract the UFC has ever signed. Along with Rampage, the UFC has gained two world class fighters.
Unfortunately, this means that Cro Cop will miss his shot at Fedor Emelianenko within the next few months. Or at best, have it pushed back to a significantly later date (depends on the terms of the contract). Their first fight was a really good one, though Cro Cop did look like he had stepped out of a plane wreck afterwards =P
Unfortunately, his first fight, in the UFC style, is against a no name "Jake O'brien" I do see that as kind of a waste of resources when they could have paired him up against one of their top "stars" in the division, Andre Arlovski or Dim Tim Sylvia. Or even the rising Brandon Vera.

Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Riggs (I'll not say who, but the fight ended in one punch).

The thing that everyone has been waiting for <the> to make the jump into the upper level competition in the WW division. I guess Frank Trigg has left the UFC, otherwise I would say he would be next on the list, but now I am thinking BJ Penn, and next a possible title shot.

'Nije mi jasno tko je to plasirao, jer odluku sigurno nećemo donijeti prije siječnja 2007. godine. Mogu samo potvrditi da se na Staru godinu Mirko neće boriti kako je bilo predviđeno, a jedini razlog tome je nedavna operacija gležnja', zaključio je Lučić.
"We still havent made a deal with the americans and their organization UFC. it is correct that we are in engotiations, but at this moment nobody can guarantee what will be decided. we are still waiting the offer from the japanese -said an upset crocop manager Zvonimir Lučić
"I dont know who let theee rumor loose, because i know for sure that we wont make the final decision before january 2007. i can only confirm that mirko wont fight for news years eve, and the only reason for that is his recent ankle operation"
Looks like Sherdog jumped the gun, it usually is unlike them to do that. I have always thought of them as the most reliable non-official English MMA site. It would be cool to see Cro Cop come to UFC, but I think I would rather see him avenge his loss to Nog to solidify his #2 status, or to fight again against Fedor to set aside all speculation. Cro Cop has been on a nice streak lately, but I really think Fedor will finish him next fight; but not everyone agrees.

This is a REALLY good highlight reel of Fedor vs. Cro Cop. Note that all the blood on Fedor was because of a bloodied nose (it wasn't broken), you know how those can be, they can bleed a lot. If the last round was a 10 minute round, Fedor would have subbed or knocked out cro cop between the 6 and 7 minute park.
