Not that I don't appreciate the pic, but could you remove that and put in something a bit more work friendly? The same for Zeus. I don't surf at work but some do, and some bosses are a bit less forgiving about the slightest thing.

I'm tempted to suggest we put some sort of restriction on signatures... how freakin annoying is it when people have these large pictures in their sigs that dwarf the post itself?

Though we may want some sort of NSFW understanding on at least avatars and sigs.

I wish there was a way for individual users to disable signatures, but that doesn't seem to be supported by phpBB - it's either all or none.

But I echo Sine's request. I made a similar one back when Zeus originally started using that avatar, but I didn't make a big deal about it.

This option is available in phpBB 3 - any chance we could upgrade to that version, Sine, or do the changes you've made to the board make that impossible?

Sine, quit trying to impose your personality on the board.

I personally don't understand the Britney lyrics either - especially in the face of news reports that both she and her dog are relieving themselves openly in front of major news reporters - but it's not causing any problems.

Would you prefer to have a board where none of us are our authentic selves, and we all fawn over you and do what you say all the time instead of expressing our own ideas and personalities?

Personally, I feel personalities are what posts are for. Signatures are a relic of email listservs, where they identified the author beyond their email address. Since we have self-chosen names and avatars, signatures are not necessary. I think they detract from the readability of a board - it's much harder to scan a discussion when 70% of the vertical space is taken up by signatures.

But, it's a part of the culture of this particular board, and I imagine people would be upset if they weren't allowed to have signatures. If I started my own board, though, I would disable sigs.

Kupe's got a point... I don't think sigs need to be banned all together, but I do like when forums impose signature restrictions (one graphic only, height restrictions, etc)

I still hate it when people's sigs take up more space than their post... that's just sad. I mean does a sig even SAY or mean anything anymore? On this thread I see Sine with his 3 lines of text on games he's playing... that's relevant and informative and doesn't take up much space... but then you've got Seeker's random image of the day that's either unneccesary, stupid, or just totally useless junk that simply takes up space in the thread. I don't mean to call out Seeker specifically but, well, he's the largest abuser of it.

I don't mean to reply to you specifically, but I actually base my signature pics on how much it pisses off whiny faeries. I don't know, I just get some sort of sick satisfaction out of it =)

OK, I'll try by the end of the week to find a more user-friendly pic of Laetitia that shows less skin.

Although that's like serving the best steak you've ever eaten cold. Sure, it's still a great steak but it you know it could be so much better....

Hear hear! I run our internet filtering... so anytime coworkers around me see NSFW-ness on my PC I just tell them I'm "investigating"....

In actuality that is what's happening 99% of the time...losers can't wait to look at porn at home so I have to waste time investigating their nasty asses... and I don't have time to come here during the work day... but if I wanted to oggle Zeus's avatar all day I could... fuck I'll make it my neighbor's wallpaper
