I know, you're probably all shocked it's still around... but I remember back when Netscape not only was the top browser, but a top notch ISP as well. Sorry to see it go, but AOL gutted it and destroyed it long ago.

I will shed a single tear but like most, I barely even knew it was around. I've been using Netscape's bastard child for a while now. But back in the day, it was the only thing I used for my email and browsing. It was FAAR better than Shiternet Explorer for a long time. But they screwed the users by falling really far behind and not updating the browser for a while. I remember being forced to switch to IE 'cause Netscape just wasn't working well anymore.

Hahaha oh man there you go again-- have I mentioned how INTELLIGENT, CLEVER, and COOL you are Zeus? You must have a cheat sheet of cool next to your computer:

Microsoft = Microshaft
Internet = Shiternet
Vista = Sucksta
XP = XPoopie
Zeus = The RADDEST dude alive! Lol

You can still make a fucking point without being a dumbass, you know.

I knew of this, but wasnt allowed to say anything... Makes my life at work a little easier since i do the tax return and provisions for Netscape. I like it as a browser, though, its a lot faster than IE, still.

Speaking of browsers, Firefox 3 is quite good in the nightly builds. Not ready for primetime just yet, as Youtube et al sites are buggy with it, but it is very fast and solves some issues I've had with FF.

Heh, Tessian, we could go all day with the word play:

Nutscape Navigator
Internut Exploder
Oprah
Firefuks
etc.

About the death of Netscape, I agree with JWZ in that Netscape died in 1999, when AOL bought it. So, I really don't care about Netscape any more. We have IE, Firefox, and Opera, so we don't need much more for "mainstream browser" competition. The remaining Netscape crew salvaged Mozilla and spawned a major OSS project, and really, that's what I consider "Netscape", not the reskinned attempt at making a purchased brand useful.

I love my Firefox to death, even if my College's Blackboard system gets glitchy on it. >_<

Tess, if you're gonna rant, get it right:

Vista = Shitsa
XP = XP
Internet = Internet
Internet Explorer = Shiternet Explorer
....at least you got the Microshaft one right :-)

I prefer descriptive names, sue me :D

Out of curiosity, what issues have you had with Firefox?

She's talking about FF3 which is still in beta... 2.0.0.11 is the latest official release. I'm interested to see too what 3.0 brings.
