Can we get rid of these lame, out-dated forum descriptions? When I'm reading them I hear Shawn Elliot's Heroes of the Web emo voice (yeah, I know only a couple of you got that).

I agree. I'd be fine with no descriptions; I think the titles are descriptive enough. So, weigh in, and hopefully we'll change it.

Lack of advertising, too. Bort, go stand on the corner with a "tows.cc" sign around your neck.

Wait... it's St. Louis... all we'd do is attract losers.

I don't bother reading them these days... but they could stand to be 5-6 word sentences instead of paragraphs.

Get rid of them entirely! They've always been embarassing. The forum titles are enough.

Those are the worst descriptions I've ever heard. How about eh...

Well, Crono made them and I filled in the rest from the archives for completeness. Crono did have a flare for the overdramatic (him and Mental both). I don't want to remove them until somebody designs some new ones, maybe without the 5 paragraphs, but still something that sounds good.

EDIT:

Hell, you wouldn't even need Gene Shalit to see that picture, considering she probably doesn't shave much.

I just went ahead and did it. Otherwise, we'd talk about it, let it slide, and never do it. I don't think the archives need text descriptions at all, but I put in one-liners for the active ones. If Sine and Kali disagree, they can reinstate the old descriptions from below, or change/remove what I added.

Daily Stuph
People can not possibly live on gaming alone. Also, some things are terrific discussion pieces, yet do not fall into the categories that the other core forums entail. This is the place to share those little things that interest you, whether they be a joke, a riddle, or a comment on a current event. Any messages that do not pertain to the topics of the other core forums (or ruminations) should be posted here.

Music & Movies
Games aren't the only forms of entertainment in life. This forum is for the two most popular forms: music and movies. Share your experience to the inexperienced music lover, or give your recommendations on a film. All conversations on motion pictures, live-action television, or music are welcome here.

Gamethought
Gamethought is a place to discuss the games and worlds you love. If you wish to discuss any specific game or game series, this is the place. Feel free to also share ideas or any philosophies relating to gaming itself. This is the core forum for gaming discussion, period.

Archives
Questionaires
This is the place to ponder about the games we know and love. You may post a survey, a general poll, or an extensive gaming examination. Either way, feel free to delve into gaming on a more simplistic and fun level. Anything in this forum, however, should contain five or more questions which ask for short answers in a polling format.

Animetion
Animetion is the forum dedicated to the vivid world of moving art. Whether it be 'anime' from Japan, or classic 'animation' from America, both of these forms have existed since the dawn of motion pictures... for good reason. This world relates to gaming in more ways than one can explain, and is a terrific and varied experience to take part in. When you wish to discuss anime, animated shows, manga, or comics in any way, post your messages in this forum.

Creations
A public place to display and archive your creativity. Photos, fanfics, writing, artwork, programming, whatever. Replies disabled.

Online Gamethought
Man created the Internet... and it was good. However, Man was bored after a while and decided to create Online Games. This is the board dedicated to these games that some of us spend hours on end playing. Formerly a StarCraft forum, it's now pertains to all online games. Any messages which discuss online games, or the playing of them over a network, must be posted only in this forum.

Ruminations
This is the place to ruminate about gaming or life in general. Any deep thoughts, truly intellectual discussions, or meaningful revelations are highly welcome here... so long as they are intended to receive equally lengthy and deep replies. Discussion here pertains to the things that make us wonder, and we should try to concentrate on that. Any other lengthy intellectual talk or large debates are welcomed just as much.

Sports
The Sports forum is dedicated to the fine arts of sports and sports entertainment. Sports and entertainment have captivated mankind since the very dawn of civilization. It is through our love of sporting events that heroes are born and legends are made. Athletes have always been among a nation's most prized possessions and stand proud as modern day's true nobility; not by birth, but by superiority of the body and mind. Any messages which deals with sports or sports related entertainment should be posted in these forums.

Would it be possible to get a single link to the archives on the front page, and have each individual archive hidden behind it? So the front page would look like this:

* Daily Stuph
* Music & Movies
* Gamethought
* Archives

And then clicking on Archives would go to a subpage displaying all the archived forums.

They're sort of cluttering up the main page for no good reason at the moment.

That doesn't seem possible in our version of phpboard, assuming we keep it all under the same forum. It's possible to do, but that would require Sine creating an entirely separate, completely locked forum, which seems like a pain in the ass. Maybe there's a mod for it.

EDIT: There's a mod for sub-forums, but it sounds like a non-trivial mod, so if I was Sine, I'd be hesitant to try it out.

You wieners will bitch about anything won't ya...

"Wah, the descriptions are too long, wah, the locked archive boards are somewhere where I can see them, wah, wah, wah!"

And for the record, I'm 99% sure everyone I slept with in Thailand was legal age and 50% sure they were all female.

PS - This is what I woulda changed it to, so be glad Kupek did it before me.

Music & Movies
Rave about what you love and trash everything zeus likes.

Gamethought

Questionaires
We occasionally ran stupid polls. The real stupid part is it took 39 stupid polls to realize how stupid it was.

Animetion
A handful of uber nerds got together and spammed this forum with anime talk all the way up to 440 topics. How they found time between not getting laid and touching themselves to tenticle porn is a mystery.

Creations
When we were all t(w)eens, we were retarded and had nothing especially skilled to add here. Now that we are adults and do have stuff to add, Sine locked it. Go figure.

Online Gamethought
Playing games by yourself is like masturbating. Sure it fun, but it's even better with someone else.

Ruminations
Pretty much all religion based topics. Then most of us got older and realized we'd die one day and stopped being Atheists (or at least, less vocal).

Sports
No female sports allowed (except jello wrestling).

I think we are making progress. I have a couple of edits to suggest:

* I liked Kali's Q'aires quote much better. The forum was stupid and it should be pointed out.
* The OGT quote needs some re-working. Can't think of a good one for it.
* I like the favorite band part. (I also like the Fuckheimer quote, my edit, but oh well.) Maybe we should put in a thing for Zeus on the description, like "Your favorite band sucks, and Zeus will always disagree with you." or "Your favorite band sucks, and Zeus hates your favorite movie."

I thought the Tony Homo quote was fitting for the Mental thing, so I added that in. I couldn't think of a "why this was locked" phrase, but that's okay.

I'd make the edits myself, but I at least wanted to get the approval of Kupek/Kali before we start fighting over them.

Also, votes on changing the forum name to "Daily Stuff". (Man, it almost sounds unnatural...)

Maybe try combining mine and Kali's descriptions for Questionaires. I didn't have a problem with the sentiment, it was just too wordy. Fuckenheimer sounds juvenile, I think. Your humor, Sine, tends to be abrasive, so I was trying to make it more subtle.

My idea for Sports is "Summary: strike, playoffs, strike, strike, playoffs, Tony Homo, strike."

I prefer Daily Stuph. Keeping it maintains continuity with the old days, but it's not embarrassingly melodramatic like the old descriptions were.
