<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>My girlfriend came over yesterday after she got off work. So I sat down drink in hand, and I was about to order a movie via pay per view. The most extraordinary thing happened as I'm sitting there ordering the movie with my little digital remote, she asks "Hey baby you like Final Fantasy don't you?" I actually buckle and almost drop my drink.
See, my girlfriend doesn't like video games, and she doesn't like cartoons either, so I don't play any video games, or watch anime or whatever when she's around to avoid her endless bitching. :)
But she sat there, and asked me about Final Fantasy, she was naming characters, Cloud, Aeris, and most to my surprise Sephiroth. My mouth dropped open, I was speechless. Then she was asked "What? What's wrong?" I was trying to get my thoughts together. I couldn't think of any LOGICAL explanation that could make me fathom or understand why my girlfriend was asking me about video games. Then she said "I heard Final Fantasy 6's Kefka was the best villain, is that true?" At that point I demanded to know who the hell this woman was and what she'd done with my girlfriend, then I asked if she was my girl's twin sister into that kinda stuff, she replied "You're crazy, stop trippin sweetie, I don't even have a sister you know that!" with a grin and a smile.
There was a great disturbance in the force, my girl was asking about Final Fantasy. I shrugged it off and I just gave her my thoughts. How I enjoyed FFVII the best, FFX was my 2nd favorite, how FFIV was the first true traditional RPG I played and enjoyed, just went over pretty much the entire history of the FFs with her. And she sat there and LISTENED, she didn't moan, or complain to my endless ranting, she just sat there eyes wide open asking questions about each one. Then she asked if there were FF characters in Kingdom Hearts(I let her play KH a little while ago), and she demanded to see Sephiroth, and also watch me beat him. Once again, I buckled!
She wanted to WATCH ME PLAY A VIDEO GAME! If I'm sitting in the car with the GBA in hand playing a game, she'll demand that I turn the shit off and give her immediate attention, hell I can't even play a cell phone game without her telling me something along the lines of "give me the attention, not the game!" But here she was asking to watch me play KH, a game I haven't played in months. So I fired up the PSX2, completely forgetting I had just ordered a movie on PPV. I skip to my save file where I fight Sephiroth, she watches me play, and starts paying the game compliments, "Wow, it looks nice, looks like fun, he looks kinda cool, can I try?"
After she gets thoroughly beatin by Sephiroth, I assumed she has returned to her original game-loathing self, but no, she wants to see me beat FFVII, so I have to pull out FFVII for her! Damnit at this point, I'm in complete shambles, and on full alert. This must be some type of test, I glue my eyes on her while I play, and she's still fully attentive of what I'm doing. I beat the game, and I wonder, "What's next?" She then asks me if I can get any of those games on her computer! (She's seen me play tons of emulators and ROMs) I tell her I'll burn a CD with an SNES and the first couple of FFs IV-VI.
She smiles, and about this time, the Adult Swim is coming on. "Oh, is that show Trigun going to come on? That white blonde guy is kinda funny" I drop my drink. "Damn baby what's wrong? Am I disturbing you?" I explain to her of her ways, and of how I find it extremely odd that she would be making these strange requests of me. She finally explains she was talking with one of her coworkers today and that the girl she was talking to was into all of that stuff, and she became a little interested. Finally, she has explained herself, and I calm down for the first time in hours. I missed the movie I order, and I didn't even get to seduce her into sex because I was so awestruck by the passed events. So she left, and I just went to bed, end of story.
Today I call her, and it's same old same old. :P "What are you doing baby? Playing a GAME, I bet...I'll call you back latter." Odd, no?
I keep getting the feeling this has happened to me before with another girl, but I can't remember, hell it's such a rare occurance!
