Ouch. Old Ion Storm blood feud rages on...

You guys may or may not know this, but John Romero (co-founder of id, guy behind Ion Storm in late 90s, etc) has a blog. In this blog,he made a not-so-nice post about Mike Wilson, former Ion Storm CEO. Romero claims (among other things) Mike Wilson "pretty much just partied all the time and after the whole thing got reined in by Take 2 he went underground for a while, waiting for his next victim/investor so he could go hogwild all over again".

Mike Wilson responded in Romero's blog. Mike Wilson claims (among other things) "You should maybe try the partying, since your unparalleled work ethic and strong character has (just in the time I've known you) left only a bloody trail of ex-wives, fatherless kids, and ill advised breast implants strewn across this fair nation".

Ah yes, a nice old school flamewar brought back. Some of your whipper snappers are probably too young to remember though...

I've read Masters of Doom a few times now, Romero is such a blow-hard, he really got his ass handed to him on a plate with Wilson's letter.

Can't remember, but does he still get residuals on the games they created back then?

To be honest, they both strike me as idiots.

Nope. He severed all ties.

Also, yes Romero is a bit of a blowhard, but I think he's been vilified far beyond the "damage" he's done. He actually is very talented and he did a ton of cool stuff back in the day.

John Carmack owns all you bitches! He could kick both of their asses with a rocket blast to the face!

I especially like when he was actually presenting the physics to how the Hulk could feasibly jump that high in the trailers, to which somebody argued against him, and then another poster said "WTF?!?! You're arguing against John Fucking Carmack! When he's not designing Quake physics engines, he's building rockets!"

EDIT: Nevermind, Found it.

Here's Carmack in another Slashdot post from years ago about why he thinks Ion Storm failed.

Carmack has been doing a lot of mobile and handheld games lately. Though I think he does it more as a hobby because he enjoys working on devices with limitations.

If I am recalling correctly, he is a big fan of old computers and gaming consoles (Like Vic 20/C64 era), and the strategies one can use to maximize their potential.
