I hate 'em. They take up too much space; single sentence replies can take up half a page, and intrude on the flow of conversations. I'd love to disable them. How does everyone else feel?

I don't mind either way.

Keep signatures, there's no reason to turn the Shrine sterile.

I don't mind them really, to be honest.

Sine, is it possible to disable them on a per user basis? Or even better, on a per user basis, disable them only for certain other users (using a list of names or something)?

Why stop there? Why not just switch back to the older and superior board script?

Heh.

But, yeah I thought there was a way to disable sigs?

I'm with Kupek, if you have a super funny picture you want to show everyone and you don't want it to be your avatar, just post it.

Funny, I was just about to bitch about Seeker's large sig, and suddenly it's half the size. I wonder why...

Still waiting for sine to make the jump to SMF.

I was just lazy about formatting it correctly.

Its a better more customizable and easier to Administrate forum. I use it at work for our reps.

No, I've looked into it. Our version of phpBB (2.something) doesn't have that functionality, and I'm not even sure if version 3 does - and if I was Sine, I'd be wary of upgrading. Disabling sigs is a board-wide operation.

I hate phpBB. If I were to upgrade, I'd go to something like SMF. However, that would also require some level of commitment to at least get the user posting styles in place. Also, I would probably want to tackle some of the other features that I've been meaning to port over from RPGBoard. (I still have the list.)

Used to be that I had plenty of time from 3rd shift to do that sort of thing. Nowadays, Perl coding is actually my job and I don't have much time to work on that type of extra stuff.

Please make sure you bring over the following:

1) GUI
2) Structure
3) Full script

Thanks :-)

Really, Zeus, give it a rest. I know I prefer this style of posting now.

I hate it. I'm used to it now but it's still a pain

I look at the old format and it just looks way, way too... old. It reminds me of the Internet circa 1990 and that's not a good thing. No offense, but it's ugly by today's standards and even the organizational style of the posts was poor.

PHPBB may be crappy to admin and manage, but it's a solid format that works well and presents content in an easily readable manner. Oh, and no more fucking "-NT" posts... god those were annoying.

Sine, just nuke this site from orbit. Or leave it sitting derelict, a monument to the follies of our youths. I wouldn't mind a fresh start at a fresh, clean forum.

On the topic: I would welcome the opportunity to not view sigs.

Also, Zeus is so old.
