They are protesting about a situation they know absolutely nothing about. It would be similar to people protesting Canada's occupation of Quebec over the coming of the next Winter Olympics.

I still say China took over Tibet for no particularly good reason, and the international community hasn't done very much to make them give it back.

I see repatriating a rebel state (between WWI and 1951, who utilized the majority of its population as serfs who normally died before the age of 30) as a fairly good reason. The International community has not done anything because the international community did not recognized Tibet as independent.
