Interesting night... Obama seems like by the end of the night he'll have the necessary delegates to win the nomination and has claimed such. Hilary has said she won't make any concession tonight. Give up you coont you lost.
CNN.com wrote:Barack Obama claimed victory in the Democratic presidential campaign tonight. CNN projects Obama secured enough delegates to make history as the first African-American to lead a U.S. major-party ticket. But Hillary Clinton said she would make no decision on her campaign's future tonight.
Must be hard to concede a race that you've already convinced yourself you deserve and believe it's your god given right to be president... stupid ass bitch.

I'm relieved. Obama needed to win this thing--do we really need another Clinton in office?

Obama/Edwards ticket in 2008!

I used to greatly dislike Edwards. He never showed me much promise in the Kerry runs, and I wasn't nearly as into politics then as I am now, so he was basically just "a more charismatic white guy" to off-set Kerry's.
I really liked him in this recent campaign. He showed a lot of level-headedness that I liked, though it seems he'd likely adhere quite strictly to party lines. Obama will too, likely, but he may be a bit more willing to be his own person. Edwards as VP...hmm...
Well, I can't say I see a problem with it, but is Edwards going to like being second-fiddle yet again? It'll be interesting to see who Obama chooses--he's got enough momentum to carry the election himself, so he doesn't NEED a popular VP to get elected. Instead, he should choose a VP who would make a lot of good--somebody useful, even if the Vice President is ultimately a very...um...well, sort of a useless office, unless the President gets killed.
Which, in Obama's case, is actually a pretty big threat. I mean, a BLACK president? Shit is going to happen. I just hope all that security we've been hankering about goes to good use.

The first one was a godsend, but I do think Hillary needs to hang up her boots.

At this point, there's no way that Clinton will get picked as running mate. Which is good, because I fucking hate her Do you see why I fucking hate her? Now that she's shown her true colors? It's like the bitch was trying to climb to power ever since ran for Senate. That's all she cares about, fucking power-hungry bitch.
Edwards might be a good choice, but Richardson would be a better choice. I really like the way he presented himself. He was another guy who made a lot of sense. Liked him almost as much as Obama.

I wouldn't pick her as running mate if I were Obama. I'd be waaaaay too nervous that I would be mysteriously killed after getting elected.

Hmm, black man vs woman in office? It'll be close but I think the Illuminati would pick the black man. Actually, it'll be like choosing Quayle (sorry to go back so far, kids) as your running mate: you know you ain't gonna get assassinated 'cause option #2 is worse :-)
From a strategic point of view, it would be brilliant to have Hilary as the running mate. It's such a close race between them that you'd be merging the two fanbases.
That is, if Barack thinks he can live with her :-)

All we would hear from Jan. 09 on would be about "Problems in the White House! Hillary wears Barak's pants!"
Not looking forward to the drama this is going to cause.

Maybe McCain will win and it'll all be moot then?

This country would not stand for the same type of politics that we've had for the last 8 years.

I don't think McCain's politics are very similar to the Bush administrations except when it comes to the war. Though that alone may be his downfall.

You underestimate the Republican think tanks and their propoganda machine. It wasn't just Kerry having the personality a cardboard cut-out that had him lose worse than Gore, there was some serious propoganda (remember the "flip flop" shit ya'll fell for? Because he was the only politician in the last 10 years to change his mind....) going on.
McCain will distance himself from Bush just enough without outwardly doing so that the marginal people can buy it. And he's already got the religious (don't they ALWAYS vote Republican?) and racists' votes with Barak there. I say he's actually the favourite

I'm sure he will distance himself...he already has been doing that. I just know that the war is a sore spot for many people and he is adamantly pro-war. Also, I am religious and I don't know who I'll vote for. I don't like either of them.

I think Zeus meant fanatical and fundamentalist religions, like Mega Churches...and shit you see on the religion cable channels.

I mean the non-coastal US, what is warmly referred to as "Jesusland", the ones who (mostly) vote solely based on religion, which generally means Republican.

Actually, you would be hurting both. Hillary (and Bill) has caused so much bitterness among the party that it's left a riff between the two sides (of the Democratic Party). Obama started out with some semi-friendly jabs during the debates (which is the forum to do that sort of thing), and then Hillary let loose her husband to do a lot of mudslinging. At that point, Obama did his own defends and ripostes.
The end result is that you have two fanbases that essentially hate each other, and Hillary has to work to make her fanbase like Obama as the Democratic candidate. This is going to take time, and let's hope that she can do it before the general election. But first, she has to admit defeat.
This is the other reason why she can't be VP. The Democratic Party leaders are seriously pissed with her refusal to step down her position. At this point, the level of stubbornness is political suicide and borderline mental insanity. Nobody wants a crazy VP.
Even political pundits are predicting the same thing, even though news reporters are always pondering "Wouldn't it be awesome if we had a Obama/Clinton ticket?" The ultimate answer is "No, that's the very definition of 'Not Awesome'."

Funny you mention that, because the thin line he's trying to push between buying the ultra-right-winged vote, and pretending that he's a moderate, is pretty goddamn comical. In one speech, he's hanging with Bush, the man who accused him of fathering an illegitimate black child via a push poll in the 2000 election, and implying he's an avid supporter of Bush's policies. In another speech, he's talking about how he's different than Bush by promising a new energy policy and a plan to curb global warming. (At this point, both are a fucking no brainer. Even Bush has admitted that there may be something to this global warming thing.)
This is only damaging his campaign. People voted for him because he's portrays himself as a straightshooter and a moderate. Trying to play either sides destroys both illusions.
In the meantime, Obama just has to act like himself (for the most part), and talk about his own beliefs, not what some poll says his beliefs are. Sure, there is some amount of political restraint, but that goes for any presidential campaign.

I keep hearing that from some people, and I'm kinda dumbfounded by it. What don't you like about either of them?

Well, she's gonna step down officially on Saturday. Just a matter of whether or not they're gonna join forces which I still say is a strong possibility. When it comes down to voting, just 'cause you have a split in fanbases, don't mean they gonna go and vote for a Republican. It'll be a net gain IMO
