Kali, stop abusing your admin powers

There is no reason why you should be editing posts for the purpose of writing insults in them.

Why does a troublemaker like Kali have admin powers anyway?

Personally, i think we should all have the power to change Seeks posts.

Also, you're all doing a terrible job (just kidding).

As shown, mod edits don't get recorded in the post itself.

Evidently, so Kali can screw with them freely.

I dunno if Seek's complaint is true or not, but if it is, I'm agreeing with him. Yeah, I understand this place and you guys have been around since Dinosaurs roamed the earth and you've been together so long that, if four or more of you get into a conversation, it'll devolve into useless nitpicking so fast that it's as if you've all been sleeping in the same bed for twenty years and no one has changed shirts in all that time, but Kali still has admin powers, and thus that forces him into a position of some authority, albeit a rather superficial one. Authority brings responsibility, and responsbility means not fucking around with anybody else's posts for any reason outside of deleting them for being inappropriate, vulgar or rude--something that nobody really does here anyway.

Short Answer: I agree with Seek, if he's correct.

Hey you stupid faggot, removing spoilers from your subject isn't abusing shit. So bitch and moan some more you dumb fuck.

Is it really to much to ask that you keep MMA spoilers within the body for those of us who see the events on replay or is it too much work for you to be considerate? And who the fuck changed it back (Seeker I assume, but I'm not sure if you can edit the subject of a new thread)? I'm changing it again and I'd ask that all future fight spoilers get left in the body.

Edit: And ya, if I sound pissed off, it is because I AM pissed off. It is a big deal to me and no doubt others.

Somebody's a little grumpy goose. I saw both versions of Seeker's post and didn't really see anything except a change in the thread's name. To bring this all together into something constructive, perhaps we should try to agree on which would be more preferable to all: sports spoilers in thread names or no such spoilers allowed.

There is nothing grumpy about, it was an accurate reply...I'm sure I coulda come up with an even more 'accurate and funny' reply, but I lack the time to do it justice.

As for spoilers, the rules have never changed....use common fucking sense. Aerith dies in FF7 - if that spoils anything for you, tough shit. But for a recent game/movie/ep/event, show some courtesy by not throwing a spoiler in the subject.

If someone clicks a thread on a topic and there is a spoiler in there about it - another tough shit scenario...reader beware. But putting it in the subject line is stupid.

I don't mind if Seeker plays his usual hurt-bunny/rebel-against-whoever-has-mod-powers routine to bolster his flagging real life self esteem and get a few giggles - but DON'T do that shit on purpose again please.

I was waiting for the other half of the story... no surprise that Seek omitted that part. I don't give a crap about UFC so I didn't notice but that's ALWAYS good common sense / decent behavior. Never put spoilers in the subject line wtf is wrong with you?

I wouldn't have given a crap about the editing of my post topic to remove a title if Kali didn't add insults into the body of my post along with it.

For the record, live events have NEVER been considered spoiler topics. This isn't a movie or a game which has a story, it was the result of a live sporting event. There was no reason for Kali's behaviour.

Bottom line is; he's a known trouble maker, it is a wonder why he has admin powers in the first place.

UFC / wrestling events are a little different than a football or hockey game. But even for those, we don't put spoilers in the subject line.

Yes we do, and it's not really a spoiler either; it's the result of a live event and UFC themselves posts those results on their website. But fair enough, I don't mind censoring the title.

My issue has to do with the fact that Kali has a history of abusing mod powers and is somehow still a mod; weird that he was ever one in the first place. I am just interested in having no troublemakers as mods here at the Shrine, which we have been going to for 11 years.

In my EQ guild there are people who get bad when the east coast guys tells you who the winner of American Idol is since they see it earlier, but that's a timezone difference. I figure if an event is live simultaneously in the world then it's fair game as soon as it ends.

But as common courtesy to those who may have TiVO'd or downloaded the event, at least don't put spoilers in the freakin' subject line

But when does the stature of limitation expire for spoilers? One day? Three hours? There are apparently still people who didn't know Aeris died.

Don wrote: But when does the stature of limitation expire for spoilers? One day? Three hours? There are apparently still people who didn't know Aeris died.
Common sense applies Don. For something like a PPV event, they'll replay it for days after. Obviously, that's a shorter time frame than say a game or movie -- and even if Tivo'd or downloaded event, someone who really cares about it will view it within a reasonable time frame.

Bottomline though is just keep the spoilers outta the subject whenever possible. It's not hard or complicated (unless you are Seeker).

Edit: And oh, since the rest of you can't see the torrent of damaging insults I threw his way in his post apparently, let me clarify for you - so you can really put his bitching in perspective. I wasn't originally gonna reply to the thread (until after I read his spore thread again) and I also know there was some previous bitching about wondering who modded some previous posts (never me). So I made it clear. I changed the title to "UFC 88 (Spoilers) and added a line at the bottom of his post that looked like:

-- Edited by Kali: No spoilers in the title Douche!!

......ABUSE!!!!

As far as I'm concerned, that's the proper way to mod a post. Make the changes and leave a little note with the mod name and reason. For the 2 to 3 times a year I'll have to edit a post here, I hope none of you slit your wrists over the adjectives or quips I will undoubtedly include.

Bitch on Seeker, drum up whatever drama you can you rebel, you.

My problem was with the insults you added to my post. I don't have a problem with keeping results out of the title; even though it is obvious only reason you are making a big deal about this is to cause trouble, not because you actually care. The event wasn't a spoiler, it was a live event which happened two days prior.

I just watched the even last night, so I care - a lot. And I can 100% tell you that the main event wasn't exciting because of that bullshit. You might actually not get that it's a spoiler for some stupid fucking reason -- but I know for a fact that your bitching is just stupid cry-for-attention drama that you love.

Keep it up (the bitching) I don't care, but get it through your fucking head not to spoil shit in the subject line.

Now you're just being ridiculous. I am not bitching about anything; rather, I am telling you calmly not to abuse your moderation powers. In fact, just looking at the language in your last post it is obvious that you're the one bitching/whining/crying. It is your problem for watching the event late, not mine; assuming that's even true, I personally don't believe you. It seems much more likely to me that you are just using this as just another opportunity to stir up trouble.

Speaking of which, I am also wondering why a known troublemaker like you has moderation powers; you shouldn't.

Seeker -- Posts thread about sports match in which the outcome of said match was in the subject line.
Kali -- Sees the spoilers in subject line, edits post to remove it
Seeker -- Whines that Kali is abusing his admin powers by doing so

Seems to be a pretty wholesome summary there; Kali was well within his right to remove spoilers in the subject of a thread. If someone did that to a movie or show I hadn't seen yet I'd pray he or another admin would do the same. Not an abuse of power, but a perfect example of the PROPER use of said power.

The End.

I think the insult was incidental. The actual purpose of editing your post was to remove a spoiler from its title, which is fair enough. You're getting upset about nothing in particular, here.

Hey now, I'm a good mod. It takes something pretty blatant or stupid to force me to overcome laziness and log into the admin panel (basically, spoilers or spam).

There was that one time I changed all instances of seeker into wii-ner....but a) I already apologized and promised to not do that again and b) it was funny as fuck according to at least 3 other people, so no regrets, lol (it was a joke seek, get over it already!)
