My wife gave birth to twins yesterday (Sunday), one boy one girl. Girl came first at 1:23pm weighing in at 5 lbs 14 oz and the boy came at 1:39pm weighing in at 5 lbs 5 oz. Once I get some pics up I will find a way to get them to you. I just got in from the hospital a few minutes ago.

What did you name them!!!!!??? Can I have one?

thanks a bunch everyone.

Seraph - my prayers are with you. Like I said, we went through that fertility shit I know how it drains you emotionally. I want you here with us soon

Tess - I may have to get another 360 so all three of us can play :-)

Anarky - they're 1-month cards now. I love GTA4. God I hope I can stack them. I've got 12 of them left over still and I get more and more almost every week. If ANYONE needs one between now and June 30, let me know.

Lotus - geez, thanks for reminding me! Boy's name is Nasrallah Omar Farah. First name's after my dad and middle is mine. Family tradition thing. Nickname will be either Nick or Naser, we haven't really decided yet. It'll probably come naturally. Girl's name is Miriya Jean Farah. 10 points to those who know where that first name came from (as everyone does a search to find out were the hell that's from :-). Jean is my wife's grandmother's name. And no, the initials being M.J. was not an accident :-)

Holy shit you named your daughter after a Robotech character! Who let this nerd into our club??

All of my children will be named Megaman, regardless of sex. After Megaman 6, I'll name my next one Megaman X just to make people ask what happened to children 7-9.

Holy shit, we're gonna have two of us with newborns within a week here?!? Goddamn! I had no idea Fea was pregnant. The esplains why she's not around much anymore :-)

They gotta induce her within the next couple of days. You're in for a ride, bud. I hope as hell blood don't make you queasy, there's gonna be tons of it. Think of all the periods she's missed, they've basically been building up and more. And make sure you look at the placenta before they wisk it away. It's the coolest looking thing ever. The nurses in my hospital called it the Tree of Life and it really does look like that. And the umbilical cord looks so much like the cords in Alien it's awesome.

Oh and one thing: when her water breaks, expect blood. That scared the ever loving shit out of my wife but it's normal. It's the mucus plug and it took a 911 attendent to tell us that. I just notice blood wasn't flowing but had no idea what it was. You'll notice it'smore of a thick, snot-like stuff that comes out.

Shellie - Good to hear. So it should only be a matter of time for you and Brendan. And I don't have pics yet. They're still in the incubators (early at 35 weeks and 4 days; decent for twins though) so the pics ain't turning out well. Later in the week, I promise.

Lotus - that is a GREAT naming covention. And after the first X you can name the twins X2 and 7 just to really mess with people. Then after X3 you can go right back to 8 before X4 to X8 then right back to 9. People will have anurysms (sp?) trying to figure it out LMAO. And damn you for being old enough to get the Robotech reference. I figured I was the only fan here 'cause of the age of the anime. The name is actually a nice sounding name and even sounds Arabic (Mira is a more common name). Not only that, I got both and anime and a comic reference in one name. Definitely a nerd's dream come true :-)

Rent - you are young, dammit :-)

Don - thanks

We've already got Big Daddy Mac. Can't have two Big Daddy's. We'll have to come up with something more comical....I'll work on it :-)

Mac - just waitin' for you now, bud :-)

Kup - yeah, sorry 'bout that. But I wanted to give Andrew a bit of warning about the plug. It was a crazy 20 minutes while we tried to figure out why the wife was bleeding. It took me almost that long to calm her down too. It's not fun, very scary if you don't know what it is. And checking out the Tree of Life was fucking cool, I didn't want him to miss it. They won't let Fea go past 10 days overdue so he needs to know this stuff :-)

Fea gave birth today. Jeessus Christ. I won't blame her if she never wants to do that again.

Our overdue boy weighed more than your twins put together, Zeus. 11 pounds, 9 and a half ounces. Terrifying.

Holy shit! That's a monstrosity of a baby! I assume it was a C-section at that size....

My kids right now wouldn't even be 37 weeks. Imagine if my poor wife had to go to more than 40 weeks with them. Ouch....

Congrats, man.

EDIT: tell me you took a good look at the placenta. Freakin' awesome, no?

Nah, natural birth. She had an epi about 2/3 of the way through, but it seemed to wear off right around the time she had to start pushing. Useless anaesthetist!
Zeus wrote:EDIT: tell me you took a good look at the placenta. Freakin' awesome, no?
It was fucking huge! No wonder he didn't want to come out. He had enough food there to see him through an ice age.

Wow, she actually delivered vaginally, huh? (that's the official term, natural is actually without and epi needle; some of the joys of having a nurse for a wife :-). PAIN!! My wife's epidural also ran out just as the crowning started. So she got to feel the worst of the pain. I think most anaesthetists are just sadists :-)

And yeah, that placenta is large. It's like a 64 oz steak. It's amazing how my wife had room for two of them plus 11 lbs of baby all inside her. And the sack they and babies were in was like a two-room tent, it was kinda neat.

Give Fea my regards and congrats.

Anesthetists got to be real careful with how much to administer, especially when dealing with a pregnancy.

Anyway, congrats. I hope Fea recovers after that.

Yeah, they gotta watch the whole paralysis thing. Kinda puts a damper on having the child if the woman can't walk anymore....
