And here I thought this was already done... Senate voted it down after the UAW refused to negotiate on wage cuts.

They're so right... cause who wants to work for less when you can just not work at all!

I'm still not convinced that the wages are the problem. It's just a scapegoat. Everybody points to graphs like these, but they are two different countries with two different economies, right down to the form of currency. We spend a LOT more on health care than Japan and we earn a lot more, both of which are big factors.

THIS is the problem! How long does it take Honda to convert a plant from SUVs to a smaller cars? Five minutes. Five fucking minutes! The Big 3 doesn't have this flexibility, which is suicidal. They simply aren't thinking long-term. Honda had this technology ten years ago, so where's the technology in our US plants?

I agree they are the scapegoats to some level but this just shows WHY we're in this predicament. Everyone is greedy, everyone takes as much as they can now without planning for the future or caring about how it affects everyone else.

UAW is stupid. There needs to be a reset and simply put, they get paid far too much to be sustainable for the long term. Sorry, but EVERYONE needs to take a hit to make up for the delay in the economic downturn we forced by buring our heads in the sand. The fact that they refused to make ANY concessions is ridiculous.
