Okay, we're only in the eve right now, but I hope you all have something exciting lined up. It's snowy and awful in Regina, so I think I'm just going to stay in tonight.

My first sober New Year's since I was 18 and I feel great about it. No way this year could be worse than the last. Woooo 2009.

And you only had one....

How's your boy and Fea doin'?

He's the picture of health. Fea and I are feeling a bit more rough. (He's been easy in a lot of ways, but tricky in others: he's never been able to latch on properly to breastfeed, so he's on about half and half expressed breast milk and half formula; also, he's only just now started sleeping for more than a couple of hours at a time. But he's been perfectly healthy, and a pretty happy little dude. How are yours?)

Pretty much the same here. The kids were about 4 1/2 weeks premature so they were in the hospital for 10 days. That was actually much more difficult on my wife, who was there the whole time, than the kids. Even though she had an easy pregnancy and pretty easy delivery considering (15 hours from water break to delivery; she would have delivered earlier but they actually forced us both to sleep for 3 hours or so since it happened overnight), she was trying to learn to breastfeed the two babies and recovering. She ended up getting very sick with a cold and pink eye (if you wanna get sick, go to a hospital) while staying in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit so it was pretty hellish for her.

As for the kids, they ended up getting almost back to their birth weight in those 10 days (they were 5 lbs 5 oz and 5 lbs 14 oz at birth) and have been on a tear ever since. As of last week (less than 6 weeks after birth) they were both up to nearly 9 lbs (still not like your boy yet :-). That's a pretty freakin' fast weight gain for the time period and the doctor, obstetrician, and pediatrician have been extremely happy about that. So they're quite healthy with nothing really other than some baby acne, but that's normal.

They did end up keeping me up on a work night until 6:30am and then from 7:30am to 10am causing me to miss work that day. So I sleep in a different room now during the week :-)

Sine/Seraph - you guys asked me for pics and we took some for Xmas. I'd like to show you guys but don't have any webspace. Can I send you guys a few (6 or so) and you can share them with the guys here?

Flickr, Facebook, ImageSpace. Nowadays, you don't need a web host to share pictures. Shellie recommends a Flickr account.

I have a Crackbook account. I'll try to fiddle with it later this weekend to see how pictures work on there. I basically use it for nothing other than keeping in touch with some of my old high school mates (it's actually the football team; quite funny, it's very Bundy-like :-) so I don't know how to use ANY of the functionality of that site....and proud of it

You have a problem.

I think Flickr is a better online photo sharing application than Facebook, particularly if your purpose is for non-members to be able to see them.

Drank myself sober, stayed at a seedy motel with my girl. She says she felt like she was in a cheesy horror film the hotel was that bad. I've been on a bender this holiday season. Starting from the 21st I have had alcohol in excess of 4 drinks in 8 days and am going out tonight and tomorrow night. Though I've only been hung-over one of those days.

I spent the holidays at my parents' house--they hosted a rather shitty New Years party that disappointed even them. I basically played Guitar Hero World Tours with abunch of 40-year olds doing only the default songs (of which I knew only like, uh, three.) and spend most of the night abysmally sober. Had a weird theological debate with a Gnostic Christian, had four beers, several glasses of shitty champagne, fell asleep by three.

5:11 AM: I wake up with terrible stomach pains, stumble into my bathroom, and proceed to violently throw up.

From 5:11-11:00, this process repeats itself over and over, compounded with feverish nightmares of strange WoW monsters stalking me, cursing me to endless sickness for my hypocrisy in mocking the game, yet now playing it in a moment of weakness.

At first, my parents dismissed my illness as merely a combination of eating too much, drinking too much, and generally doing lots of unhealthy things, despite my insistence that it was something more serious. Later, when I had a 100.8 degree fever and a lump in my gut, the consensus was that I had originally been right, and it was either food poisoning or the flu.

Needless to say, I've been pretty shitty for the past 48 hours, which really ruined the fun of going out today to shoot guns at the nearby firing range.

My New Years--along with my Christmas--SUCKED.

Heh, several years ago, a friend of mine and I had stayed in some shitty motel in Dayton. It was right next to some seedy strip club. Our room smelled of bad perfume and sex, and the room was as basic as you can get. Some black dude tried to sell my friend a gun, right outside our door, and he had to pretend he already had a gun to get rid of him. Later on when we were trying to sleep, we heard some argument going on which sounded like it was from a pimp and a hooker.

All of this just to get a vial of acid that ended up being total diluted shit. I hate Dayton, too, as it's as dirty and shitty as Detroit.
