I was just watching C-SPAN, and Paul Wolfowitz came on to address the issue of Chinese military buildup, and he said "You don't have to be a rocket surgeon to understand this."
...
A rocket surgeon.
AAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!! Why do we let these people run the country?!?!??!

Your fellow idiots voted for them. See, if you don't vote you can bitch about the voters who keep fucking up the country but if you vote, you have no right to complain since you're empowering these idiots

Nobody voted for Paul. Anyway, I didn't vote for Bush, either.

Yes, I know. He is, nevertheless, INCREDIBLY influential still in the realm of American foreign policy and was easily in the top ten most powerful people of the Bush administration's first term in office.
I'm not bitching at anyone in particular, Bush included. I'm just astounded that anyone would literally say the phrase "rocket surgeon". I know I didn't make it up, if I hadn't been paying such close attention I would have thought I misheard it. I was trying yet again to watch C-SPAN for more than five minutes without being so infuriated by the fact that most people I knew in high school seemed to be able to give a more coherent speech than these guys, and I have failed at that.
The question was more along the lines of "why on Earth would any thinking person let this guy get up on a podium and address any kind of body being covered by C-SPAN".

Institute term limits and outlaw lobbying. That'll change government here.

I'm fine with the first one. I'm pissed off at even the Democratic career politicians. They have no vision, and they are just people that know how to play the game. (Nancy's just a fucking stale PR mouthpiece for the Democratic party with no actual content to her words.)
However, lobbying is still necessary. We consider it a bad word, but we have lobbyists on even the "good" issues. It's the best way to make things known to the politicians.

But you elected the idiots that gave them power. You don't have to hold an office to have power

Yeah, you do need lobbying. The problem is always that the lobbyists eventually figure out how to lobby for lobbying as a practice, and then it turns from lobbying into influence peddling, and then you have to throw greasy-ass people in overpriced suits in jail.
