Purchase of an external hard drive

My cousin in Israel is begging me to buy a 1TB external HDD for him since over there, they're the equivalent of about $350 to $400 USD for a decent one. I can send it in the mail to him and it'll still be about 1/3 of the price

He looked up that slim Samsung one and loved it. He likes the fact that it's smaller so he can carry it around easier. I can't find it anywhere since I don't really know the name (I think it was the S2 or something). If you know which one I'm talking about, please post a link.

That being said, I'm not going to allow him to overpay for one just 'cause it's a bit smaller. He likes this one at Amazon.com

But I'm pretty sure I can get it cheaper. Any of you guys know of a better place to buy these things online? Obviously I need them to ship to Canada as well.

Any alternative suggestions are welcomed as well. I'm basically trying to find him a good 1TB external drive that will be good to be carried around a lot for a decent price.

If they'd go to at least Canada, I think they would really get a huge increase in sales. I really don't know why they don't. They're the best place to order stuff from. All of my pc's that I have built over the years, the parts came from them. The best part is, they use time travel technology for shipping. You get what you ordered the DAY BEFORE you order it! How cool is that! Ok maybe I'm exaggerating a bit...

I think it has to do with shipping. I've noticed that the standard shipping rates vary greatly between within US and US to Canada when bidding on stuff. It may have to do with the USPS pricing structure.

And NEVER us UPS to ship to Canada. They automatically FUCK YOU HARD on customs whereas 95% of the time, you don't have to worry about it

My Seagate external is loud and takes forever to spin up, but I do have to say that in terms of just having a component around it's one of the most useful things ever. Good for backup and for transferring huge files between computers, and if you ever have to use the backup on another machine it's just plug and play, no stupid tape backup drivers or installation necessary..
