So I have this PC that is relatively older hardware (p3 733 with 384MB of memory). I have 3 40GB hard drives all the same make and model from western digital. Does anyone know if it would be possible to make a NAS out of this? Raid 5 or Raid 1+0? Any good software to use? Kinda looking for a guide. Let me know!

You can definitely RAID them together... RAID 5 would give you redundancy and 80GB of space so that's probably your best option unless you see them all failing at once. RAID 0, 1, and 1+0 require an even number of drives.

I've only researched NAS devices, not software... I guess it all depends on how advanced you want to go. Technically you could install an OS on the old computer, and just Share the drive-- voila you have a NAS.
