The Shrine

So back in August I heard a rumor that DirecTV was going to drop versus programming because of some shit that was going down between Comcast who owns Versus and DirecTV about some 20% increase for the channel. Apparently what has transpired is that DirecTV up and cut Versus off on the 1st of Sept. It is now 3 days till the start of the NHL regular season on Versus and the Blues are in Sweden to play Detroliet. I WON'T GET TO WATCH IT IN ALL OF IT'S GLORY BECAUSE THESE TWO ARE IN A PISSING MATCH ABOUT MONEY! So everyone loses because of corporate mismanagement and no one is willing to talk to one another to get the issue resolved. In the mean time, I, along with most of the Saint Louis market, will miss the game because Versus will be blacked out completely. There are no sports bars in Saint Louis that have anything else other than DirecTV in them so they will not be able to carry the game AT ALL!

WHAT THE FUCK? I'M BEING COMCASTRATED AND DICKTVED AT THE SAME TIME!!!!

I've called DirecTV and threatened to cancel and they offered me Center Ice and half price and assured me that they will have the issue resolved "soon". They damn well better have the issue resolved soon or if I can't watch my games I'm going to U-Verse as soon as it rolls out here. The reason why I am most frustrated though is I purchased the Versus channel when I first signed up with their Choice XTRA+ DVR package. So, in essence, I'm not getting what I paid for at the moment.

Sigh.

As a guy on the inside, I can tell you that this shit happens often. It's usually the channels fault because they are trying to fuck around with the prices. Sometimes it comes down to playing chicken with the customers to try to get them to back down on the price hikes.

Of course, with Comcast being a competitor with DirectTV, I'm surprised they are doing this a lot with their channels. I'm sure there would be some antitrust issues around that, though.

Channels change and drop all the time, i dont think this argument would fly at all, if for example, you tried to argue it legally.
