Wait what? What the fuck KO'd him? It's like he whiffed a punch and fell down.

Look at it again. He clocked the shit out of him right on the chin. Instant KO. It just looks odd 'cause the other guy tried to go for a flyin' knee and his momentum took him down in a rather odd way.

My kids absolutely adored that one. We watched it 4 times :-)
There's a great Michael Jackson one that's fully animated in 8-bit style there too

You have to see it from the other angles. Fedor gets Arlovski clean on the chin while Arlovski is jumping into him.

Here you go:
notice how Arlovski is facing the other direction after the pounch? =P

Up until that mistake, I actually thought Arlovski was doing very good. He was using good boxing with crisp, straight punches to keep Fedor off-kilter. But you just can't get sloppy for a second against a guy who has hands that fast with that much power.

If there's anything fighting games have taught me, it's that you don't go for a high-risk move like that if your opponent is in a fully ready stance.

To be fair to Fedor, Arlovski's strikes were fairly ineffective in the way of doing any damage or creating any openings that could have led to a finish. What he did achieve was keeping Fedor at a distance using his large reach advantage. The very first significant strike that Arlovski committed to gave Fedor an opening to KO him 3 minutes into the first. Fedor walked away undamaged and still fully charged.

But they were clearly frustrating Fedor. Arlovksi was outboxing him.
