So last Wednesday a friend of mine called to let me know the local sports radio show guys were doing a promotion for this dumb movie, Shes Out Of My League, about a normal guy who lands a hot chick. The contest was just that, if you are a normal guy with a hot GF you can enter and possibly win. He thought we would be perfect. Well, i told my GF about it and she thought it would be fun to try, because she seriously is a 10 and im a 5 at best. We send in pictures on Wed and they told us to come to the studio Friday morning for an on air interview and the listeners will vote. It was just us and 2 other couples. (we are Mike and Catherine)

I nerded it up with my 1up t shirt and during the interview tried to bring up all the dorky stuff i like to make it seem like Cathy is wayyy above me in coolness and rating and i guess it worked, because they let us know an hour ago that we won a trip to NY next weekend to watch the premier of the awful movie, then go to an after party with the cast, and stay a night in the city. Should be super fun.

Here is the podcast if you are interested, it was embarrassing being on the radio, but a fun thing for us to do together.

I think it is segments 5,6,7, and maybe 8. After the contest segments they asked my GF in by herself so they could be pervs and get her to take her top off on the air. She didnt do it, but the banter is kinda funny and i think the extra air time for our team ultimately won it for us.

Grats Flip! One word of advice though, my parrents won a cruise once and they counted it as income when it came to tax time, so do some reaserch. Just a piece of advice. Have a blast!

Yeah, they will give us a 1099 for the cost of the winnings. The estimated value is ~$700, kinda shitty to have to pay tax on it, but oh well.

Windfalls in Canada are not taxable. Take that, sucker! (yeah, but you still get a trip at 20% of cost..... :-)

It was put in place to prevent the rich trying to dodge their income taxes, but it sucks when the side effects end up on the little people.

So how do rich people up here not get away with dodging income tax with the windfall exemption? What the hell is the difference?

That everybody is happy smiling people in Canadia? Could be a number of theories why it doesn't work over there. I'm not a Canada tax code specialist, nor am I an accountant.

Who said it doesn't work? I'm still confused as to how a windfall tax exemption benefits the rich anyways.....
