Yeah, but a lot of 80s stuff used near dates. Hell, Macross/Robotech had the SDF crash on Earth in 1999 at which time a 10-year global war was raging on. Back to the Future 2 had the hoverboards and hovercars in 2015 too. It's just an 80s thing

It's from the end of the game. It took place in "the future," which was 2010.

The ending of the original game shows the events of the game taking place on April 27, 1989 (the date of the picture) and Joe writing his memoirs dated August 2, 2010. In 1988 when the game came out, these were both in the future. The picture in my avatar is my bud's Blackberry pic of the ending of the game of us beating on August 2, 2010.
