Sorry, Bruins fans, it's over

Let me give you the reasons why there's less than a 0.1% chance the Bruins will come back from this 2-0 deficit:

1) Vancouver is a better team in every aspect of the game

Yes, that includes goaltending. Luongo led his team to a gold medal last year, is also a Vezina candidate, and is arguably the best goalie in the world, period. The Canucks stole him from the idiots down in Florida and they're gonna win at least 1 cup 'cause of that. Thomas has had the better year, no doubt, and he should win the Vezina. But in the playoffs, Luongo's been better. Numbers should back that up. Also, Luongo has not yet had a bad game and, other than a couple of softies, has been phenomenal. As for the defense, Chara is arguably the best D in the league. But as an overall group, the 'Nucks are better. Forwards? Absolute runaway for the 'Nucks, no serious hockey fan would even consider challenging that one. And the 'Nucks' special teams have been better (WAAAAY better on PP).

2) The Bruins can't score

Other than a couple of games against the Lightning, the Bruins, if I'm not mistaken, are barely producing 2 goals a game. And they haven't played a team as complete as Vancouver. 2 goals in 2 games is proving that. The Bruins' entire success was based on the PFT rule: Praying for Thomas. And with only one D group (Chara, Seidenberg) being able to keep up with the Canucks (are barely, at that), they ain't gonna be able to hold Vancouver at bay for the next 5 games.

3) Vancouver will not choke, they already had their chance to do that

If Vancouver was going to lose a commanding series lead, it was going to be in the first round against the Hawks. That was the psychological hump they needed to get past after losing the last two years against the Hawks. And the fact that it happened in OT in Game 7 after blowing a 3-0 lead will absolutely ensure that there's no complacency in the Canucks' dressing room. That's absolutely required for Boston to have a chance and it's just not gonna happen, period. Couple that with the 1 goal games in both the games so far and an OT game in the second, and you can bet the Canucks won't choke

Sorry, Boston fans, looks like you'll have to be waiting on the sidelines with us Leafs fans waiting for a Cup win for a little longer. The Cup's finally comin' back to Canada where it belongs. Don't believe me? Check out the stories about how long it took the Thrashers to sell out 13,000 seasons tickets in Winnipeg. Other than a few places in the Northeastern seaboard and a couple of other places, Americans just don't give a shit about hockey. The only time you guys should see the Cup is in the Hall of Fame in Toronto :-)

Chara has played terrible the last 2 games. He's either asleep at the wheel or hasn't found the proper role yet. Oh, and I say Thomas is actually playing better than Lou...but the Canucks are dominating the rest of the ice.

Yeah, also the NHL has pretty much let Vancouver get away with everything, from diving calls, to should-have-been-suspended infractions, to questionable icings. I'm all for letting two teams battle it out but I think Vancouver has had the benefit of poor officiating and NHL board action on their players.

Go Bruins!

Thomas has been very good, for sure. First game woulda been over in 2 minutes if it wasn't for him. But Lou hasn't even flinched at all during the Finals. And not much against San Jose either and they were a better team than the Bruins. Thomas gets recognition 'cause he flops all over the place making stupid saves, but Lou has been excellent on rebound control, his positioning has been excellent, and he hasn't given anyone any reason to even bring up anything (and there are TONS of people waiting in the wings for the smallest little slip up). Everyone loves to rag on him so much they often forget that he's being held to a much higher standard than everyone else 'cause he's been touted as "the best" for so long.

Case-in-point, hit on Horton has him out of the playoffs. Bruins played smell my finger with Burrows plenty last night. Luuuu flopped in more ways than one. Tim Tom looked tip top.

Are there even Bruins fans here or did he jinx Vancouver for no reason? I know I had a smile on my face when I saw the Bruins in the paper because of this thread.

You know what, if those idiots lose, it's all their fault. Ain't nowhere else to look when you don't hustle or play well. I went out on a limb by assuming that they would, you know, actually have some drive and internal fire now that they're in the Stanley Cup finals, I know....

Besides, it ain't over yet. They still ain't down in the series.

And I should. A professional athlete shouldn't need any push to be internally motivated during the finals

Everyone has off days. Especially when they've been jinxed. By you. Because that's why it's happening.

***** BREAKING NEWS*****...Vancouver Canucks have released an official statement regarding goaltender Roberto Luongo. They blame his poor play due to illness. It was discovered last night that he is pregnant after completely missing the last five periods.
LOL

Sorry for bursting your bubble, but Vancouver has yet to trail in this series.

BTW, you guys know I'm not a Canucks fan, right? The sole reason I cheer for them is 'cause they're a Canadian team and it's been 18 years since one has won the Cup. I'd almost cheer for Ottawa if they were in the Cup final......and Alfuckssen was injured :-)

Tell me after last night that you still think this. I'm pretty sure the bonus cheques were in the mail for the refs from Charielli after 4 straight penalties in the first period and a quarter to the 'Nucks.

It actually ended up having the opposite effect as the Bruins barely even got chances. Seemed to deflate them a bit and energize Vancouver.

Lol...ya, not sure what game he is watching. Vancouver getting the benefit...? Ha! American fans can be a whiney, tunnel-visioned bunch :D

Anyway, I am not sure which way it'll go. Given the Canucks proclivity to give their fans near heart attacks, I can see a Game 7 happening. If the Bruins win, it will be because Tim Thomas carried the inferior team on his w---i---d---e shoulders.

Some drunk natives picked a fight with me when I went out tonight during the riot. Guess I'm older now and not as scary. lol.

Anyway, riot was mostly due to a bunch of retards coming in from the hick burbs (like Surrey) into the downtown core, solely for the sake of starting shit.

I had to look up what a bruin was the other day. The guys i was watching with yesterday all made fun of what a Canuck was, but then again only a few knew what a Bruin was. Worst mascot finals ever!

All joking aside (well, not all), they really didn't deserve to win it the way they played Games 6 and 7. It's like they ran out of gas. Aside from the first few minutes, they hardly pressed the Bruins at all, it was kinda sad. Boston was simply the better team and deserved the cup. Good for them. We'll see if Vancouver learns from this next year. I believe they still will have most of their core together and (hopefully) their defense won't be riddled with injuries like this year.

I don't agree with you. Canucks outplayed Boston in Game 7, they simply couldn't score. And so I am not giving all credit to Thomas, alot of that falls back on the coaching -- there was no adjustment that series. Canucks were married to the idea of point shots but failed to get the proper traffic in front. Plan B appeared to be nothing more than 'shoot it wide and hope for a bounce'.

I am a bandwagoner anyway, so I have nothing invested in the team or bias. Beyond Beiska, Ruutu and Jovanovski - I've haven't liked any of the Canucks since the 90's (2 of the 3 aren't around anymore).
