Was watching that yesterday, and I thought it's funny the announcer would go like this. Say you've a 3, 5, and 7 on the board, and one guy is taking his time, the announcer will almost invariably say something like:
"I'm guessing X has 35, 37, 57, possibly a pair of 3, 5, 7s, or a pair of 10s, Js, Qs, Ks, As. He could have a 6 and 8 or 2 and 4 and..."
I mean seriously, you might as well cover every possible distinct hand just in case you missed one. Most of the time their guess is completely off anyway. Not saying I can guess better, but you shouldn't be saying every possible poker hand while predicting what hand the guy may have.
I think they really should have all these experts they have on live keep score of how many they got right/wrong on their predictions.

Got to improvise when there's no NBA on TV.

I'm not big on the WSoP announcers. The ones from High Stakes Poker were pretty good, as well as many of the other shows. I hate how the WSoP pretend that every single hand has to be some huge hand that you have to shout about. Though, the action is fun to watch.

I watched NHL yesterday. That's how bad things have been!
There was one hand it was like 10 J 4 6 8 and one guy was aggressive and the other guy was taking a lot of time, and the aggressive guy made a big bet and the announcer is like, "No way this guy can beat a pair of Js". It's like seriously, if he had a 3 of a kind or a straight he probably wouldn't be taking all this time. The question is does the aggressive guy have say a pair of Js. I think it turned out the aggressive guy had a pair of 10s and the defensive guy had a pair of Js (or the other way around). It's a fun hand to watch but it sure isn't because of what the announcer was saying.

NHL Hockey is awesome. You watch your mouth with your nonsense or Zeus and I will come find you and check you into the boards a couple times.
Why haven't you been watching NCAA basketball? I find that much more entertaining than anything NBA. They at least know how to play defense. I'd also recommend you check out Lacrosse in the spring. That is like hockey and soccer combined, action packed, lots of scoring.

NHL would be more interesting if I can actually see where the puck is. I actually think hockey is pretty cool, but it's really annoying that I can't possibly tell when someone scored until I see the guys celebrating. I mean yeah you can get a feel of when they're likely to score, but I sure can't see the tiny puck.
College basketball is just bad basketball compared to NBA. It's exciting because people suck and end up giving leads that no professional team would. Defense is just an excuse when you suck at offense. I watched the Alabama versus LSU game and I think they missed like 5 field goals and people say that was good defense too. People missing wide open shots is not the opponent playing good defense unless you're in a basketball manga.

I would recommend you watch hockey in High Definition then. It takes a couple of games (15-20) to actually get a feel for how the game is played and then you can start picking up where the puck is. I've been watching hockey since the mid 90s so I've had a lot of training and experience. Yes, a lot of people complain they can't see the puck but if you stop concentrating so much on following the puck and just watching a play develop I think you'll have a more enjoyable experience. Also, seeing it live is 10x better than on TV.

They pretty much show all the scores on instant replay, probably to address the fact that you need superhuman vision to see the puck at all times. It's not a big deal, but just annoying.
