Holy shit this thing is awesome.

I picked this thing up from Best Buy for $130 (the one with the camera, Best Buy was out of the regular ones which are $99) after a recommendation from a friend at work.

To get the thing working I wanted to get the second ethernet jack in my bedroom to work. Since it was a keystone jack, luckily all I had to do was strip the cat5 down a little better and then line up the cables in the toolless jack and push it together...with a vice grip. Why a vice grip you say? Well there is a little tab and a plastic hook that need to snap into place to make sure the boot closes to get a good connection on the wires inside. Thankfully this meant I didn't need to re-crimp the other end in the basement that is in my 1GB switch.

Anyway, I got sidetracked, so I look at the back of the device and forgot that I can set this bad boy up via a passthrough. Yes, it has both an HDMI in and HDMI out on it. So I took the HDMI cable between the TV and my Satellite receiver and brought the Revue in line on HDMI 1.

Setup was pretty painless. All I really needed was the model number of my TV and model number of my DirecTV receiver. Once I programmed that in (just by typing in the model number of the TV and then selecting the receiver from a drop down list) I was good to go. It did do an update right before I did all of this. After that, I logged into Google and started poking around.

First off, it is easy to use. I've had a couple issues with a few apps, (VEVO refuses to play any videos, Youtube interface could have been done better, HBO Go stuttered 3 times during an episode of Band of Brothers) but it is a streaming device so I give it the benefit of the doubt.

I haven't fucked around with getting it to stream content from my Windows PC yet but I'll post again when I get it figured out.

The one thing that has been awesome is the keyboard. They really did a great job with it. The keys are raised like a regular PC keyboard and it doesn't make you feel like you are typing on a laptop which makes loads of difference. Also, it balances very nice on your lap and was very comfortable. The only gripe I have with it is that you can't double tap the touch pad to do a click, you have to use the button just south of the touch pad. Aside from that, I love it.

Another great feature is picture in picture. I can watch what is on my DVR while I browse the internet on the device. The documentation is great as well and the diagrams are easy to read and understand for the novice user.

Like I said it is has an HDMI in and HDMI out, ethernet (10/100), digital out, 2 USB, an antenna booster and wifi built in (b/g/n). It outputs in 1080p. The device kicks ass. It comes with the antenna, HDMI cable, AC power, keyboard, STB and camera (if you bought the $130 version).

If there is any STB device you should get, it is definitely the Logitech Revue.

Got the Honeycomb update last night. Leaps and bounds better than the old OS. The media player component works much better and allows for indexing. The only problem I have is that I would much rather browse my stuff by Folder like what I do with my PS3 and the scrolling doesn't work as quickly, but it is still pretty solid.

Video playback is pretty decent also. I haven't had any issues with any of the .avi files I've played thus far but then again I'm not entirely sure what they were encoded in to begin with.

Since I got the update at like 1:00am last night I'll be fooling around with this a bit more when I get home.

All flash content on the ReVue is pretty much borked. Until Google releases another update to the device there is nothing that can be done. Logitech is getting the shit beat out of it right now for this by its users.
