More Shrine History? Or are we still too damn old yet?

So, I re-read the history again, on a whim. Last update was in 2010. Anything serious enough happen in the Shrine to warrant an addition?

I'll give more insight on the history issue later, but since I have limited time tonight to browse, saw myself mentioned, and re-read the argument from 6 years ago... I can decisively say I totally won this debate against the irrational lunatic that is/was Crono/Nev/whatever other crazy name he called himself over the years (DJCaliCoast?).

http://www.tows.cc/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12074

For quite a while after this thread and his Shrine departure, Nev didnt realize he and I were still Facebook friends and i eventually had to block him due to all the ridiculous posts he would constantly put up. I'm talking like 30 a day where he would constantly monopolize my feed whenever i logged in. Nev is either a straight up insane 'government building could be bomber' or just mentally different enough to be a future billionaire. Either scamming other people with his semi-persuasive rants, OR his (this is a compliment) hard line focus on whatever he sets his demented mind on.

Wait, Crono was Mental/Nev? I totally didn't pick up on that.

Also, happy sweet 16 everyone!

Many of us have now been here over half our lives.

Sorry sorry, I meant to type Mental/Nev and not Chrono/Nev, lol. I had a lot of history going on in my head at the time.

Nah, that one was nothing. This one was truly an epic thread. Probably one of the best in the Shrine's history.

Yeah, ditto. To call him a Twitter Shitter (or whatever the Facebook equiv is) would cause the phrase to cower in awe. Even posting about lizard people and all of that paranoid government crap. It's kinda sad, considering his state of mind is probably just getting worse and worse.

Also, holy crap, what is this?

Julius Seeker
SineSwiper
Blotus
Flip
M'k'n'zy
Lox
Zeus
Andrew, Killer Bee
Eric
Shellie

Those are the folks who have lurked or posted in 2013. That's 18 users total. MIA (since the last few years) would be:

Sephy, WolfSamurai, Tessian (!), ManaMan (!), Alec, Chris (Derithian), Joe, Louis, Kupek, Torgo, Tortolia, RentCavalier, Manshoon, Fea, Gentz, byrdiebird (my sister), No Limit (one of Seeker's nicks?), Agent 57, Judgment 1999

Those are just the ones I recognize, by the way.

Is that timeline really correct? I've been a mod/admin for six years? Wow...I have totally slacked off by not losing that in some epic fashion. Sorry folks.

The only noteworthy event, to me, was spotting G-man over at a random game forum that came up on a random google search. And I decided, randomly, to message him to see if it was who I thought it was.

In related news, i see the use of the word 'epic' by BLotus was back in 2007. We were so cool back then, its such a terrible word nowadays. Especially when used by media or people over 50.

ops, haha, i didnt notice you did. I just think it has run stale and shouldnt be cool slang anymore. I remember one episode of The Office a year back or so where the Kevin character says it a bunch of times all slow and deliberate. It felt like the writers agreed that it used to be cool, but now has run its course... anyways, i'm just random ranting for no reason. I really dont care if you say it everyday.

Yahoo's front page is the best on the internet, live with it. :P

It compiles sports, news, funny stuff, gaming, tech, entertainment, and everything else. If i'm bored, i can always load it up and there is something interesting to read.

No Limit is not one of my usernames. I think I only had a few others which predated our ability to change names on our main account, and they probably only had posts in and around September/October.

Maybe he finally succumbed to chronic arthritis. Rheumatism as he called it.

I do miss his elaborate stories about the contributions he made during the war against Germany. He was like a father figure to the veteran troops.

I'm pretty sure Manshoon still browses here sometimes, too, but the Alaskan wunderkinder never posts anymore.

I think some of you have changed their handles and so I don't recognize them. Others are new to me. It's been about 11 years since I left this place. I'd pop in every now and then. I think I first came back to check on Eric during the Hurricane Katrina incident. Last time I popped in was Zeus doing his usual routine of spinning the same old tired ass "Canada defeated the United States of America all by itself in 1812!!!"

Anyway....I've gotten married, moved to three different places, moved to a different coast and changed careers since 2003. Wish I could say we have children but sadly.....well, I'll save that for another time.

I'm around, but yeah, just haven't really had the urge to post in a long time. I think I'm getting burned out on gaming. Hell, I can't even make myself login to HotS and do hard-mode achievements, let alone play ladder games. The last two games I really got into were Xenoblade and Dark Souls.

Anyways, I moved out of Alaska over 4 years ago, been living in the Seattle area ever since, even bought a condo last year. The frequent rain can make living here depressing at times, but I think I'm starting to get used to it. I've got a steady yet boring job working from home developing products for a Legal-Zoom-like website. I've had about all I can take there and am ready to move on to something new, so I've been trying to learn iOS on the side in the hopes of getting in with a mobile app company in the area.

I live just outside of Los Angeles now . I switched careers. I hated my old job. It paid well but I hated it. At least I paid off my house and now I rent it out. I live off the rent since it's pretty high (4 stories, the basement is converted to a theater).

Hells yeah I'll stay. I think my 10 year hiatus is long enough. I've changed a lot....or for you RPG nerds, I've switched roles! I used to be a Warrior (Republican) now I'm a level 46 Night Ranger (independent)!

Anyway, I'm really glad to be back. It's like seeing my old school mates again. Only we're older and sexier. :)

That is an awesome room, Joe!

My avatar pic is the ending of the original Bionic Commando. When we were kids playing the game in 1988, we always said "when we grow up, we're gonna sit down and beat that game on August 2, 2010". That's the date that Joe is writing his memoirs in the game (the very last thing you see after the credits is my pic). Aug 2, 2010 happened to be a holiday up here (Civic) so 4 of us old-time friends got together and beat it.

Very obscure nerdy, yes. But also kinda neat that a) we were all still friends and b) we were able to actually do something like that

Whereabouts in LA if you don't mind me asking? Fiancee and I are about to move toward Culver City after a small stint in the West Adams Historic district near Ktown. I work out in Hollywood as a web developer.

Oh nice, I lived in Glendale for about 3 years near Pacific and California. I hope you're taking advantage or Portos! Also if you're a beer drinker check out Golden Road Brewing on San Fernando near the 10, my friend is a brewer there. You wouldn't happen to be working at Dreamworks would you? I have a few friends over there.

Not yet. I don't think I'm up to snuff with the 3D yet. I'm getting there and I want to be well skilled before I show them my reel. Perhaps I will take you up on introducing me to them when I'm ready. Right now I'm working on a documentary for this artist, doing a few rotoscoping for a music video, putting together a motivational video for this speaker....and lastly....doing a trailer for this indie film I helped out on.

Los Angeles is the most unique city I have ever lived in. I find myself with nothing to do...so I self train in 3D animation...then I get a bunch of jobs (coz LA is about who you know) where I can't say no (coz I need the exposure) and I'm burning the candles at both ends. Sometimes I get 2 hours of sleep a night. However, I enjoy the work. :)

And yeah, about Porto's....their cheese rolls are like CRACK!

Joe welcome back!

There was also a brief period when I set up the shrine when it was down for a month or so on my old emulation site that I used to run. That was back before we changed board formats to phpbb.

I know I don't post a lot myself anymore, but I still check in every day!

Still it's good to see some old faces return again ^_^
