My own Donald Trump conspiracy theory

Here's one for you Replay:
Donald Trump is really a Democrat and is running as caricature of a rich, racist, sexist, conservative to discredit the Republican presidential field. The idea is to tarnish the GOP brand so that the presumptive Democratic candidate (Hillary) will have an easier time winning. He's switched party affiliation several times but has mostly publicly identified as a Democrat. He's friends with many powerful Democrats and, up until 5 years ago, he made almost all of his campaign donations to Democrats.

This is more-or-less tongue-in-cheek but I mean, this guy is ridiculously over-the-top and you have to admit that it's halfway feasible.

Update: after typing this up I found this article on Huffington Post where someone had the same idea as me.

I've actually wondered if Donald was being paid to spoil the GOP's chances myself...I just don't think so, I don't get that feeling here. Trump really is that arrogant and obnoxious. :) Comes of the company he keeps, I believe. Like I've been saying in other posts - "Fat Tony" Salerno, an old dead mobster, apparently did construction on bonzo Trump projects.

The going conspiracy theory is that he might switch, go third party, and split the republican vote.

You know, Mana, you might have something here after all. Very few legitimate GOP candidates have ever made contributions to a Democratic mayor of Chicago.

*shivers* I almost don't want to bring it all up these days. The Internet's walls do have ears in 2015-16, maybe always did.

I doubt it. For 3 reasons:
- he is damaging his brand at this point
- he has eliminated the possibility of going independent
- dems dont need help

Cruz would be toxic, Rubio is awful. Christie is the only feasible candidate they could run with and I doubt he could win. Assuming Trump doesnt eventually get the nod, itll likely be Rubio.

True. I still think it's a long shot at best.

It's just worth noting that it seems the Dems mostly don't need help at this point because two-thirds of the country is watching Trump turn into the Charlie Sheen of American politics, and wincing. It seems like Trump's effect on the campaign has been to divide the entire country into two camps - really really angry people, and everybody else. Really really angry people are voting for Trump, and everyone else is voting for anybody but Trump - Bernie, Hillary, a box of Kraft macaroni and cheese, just anyone other than Big Hair himself.

If it were true, it would be quite the brilliant political stratagem by the Democrats.
