I am looking into changing majors...

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>Well I am still a CS major, but last quarter was brutal on me. I did bad in my 2 CS courses, and I am now left wondering what to do. I probably could have done better, but at the same time, I think why that shit was boring as fuck. Java and programming just seem so hard for me to comprehend, maybe it comes with practice, or maybe some people have a natural drive for it compared to others. It may also be that my teachers kind of sucked (as most of the teachers in the CS department at my school do, though the department looks good to outside people).

So basically I need to repeat 2 CS courses now, and I had to drop the 2 courses I was going to take this quarter. I took the advice of my sister and am not taking any CS classes this quarter, and am Instead taking 2 Art courses, a Physics, and math class. I think i am going to reevaluate my major over summer after taking the art classes. I am considering switching to Graphic Design, but nothing is final. Its not like I do not do well in my other courses, CS just seems to be my sore spot, maybe if I practice over summer I will find it enjoyable well see.

I am sure this happens alot, considering most people change majors within the first year.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>When I was in college I took a CS course and failed that, simply because I didn't do the work. It bored me to death to stare at that code for some asinine program.

But then again, it also has to be realized that these courses weren't designed to be particularlly stimulating. Math is a good example. I like it well enough, and so do you, but I doubt either of us give a fuck about the rate of change of some tree's shadow over the course of three hours. :)

Same with CS. Trying to debug some code that your instructor hands you isn't nearly as intresting as say, making a blackjack game. And of course Java's going to be hard to comprehend when you're mentally dozing off (or literally).

It was probably a good idea to not take any CS this quarter. Take some time off from that for now, and maybe you'll start playing with it on your own. And if you still aren't interested in CS by the time you sign up for the next quarter, go ahead and toss in some Graphics Design courses and switch your major.

Switching your major isn't really a big deal, it's a simple process (or at least it was for me) and it's not set in stone, especially in your first year of college.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt "Cooper Black"; text-align: left; '>One thing i've noticed is that graphic artists not only are good with computers but they can freaking draw, paint, and create other art just as good as pure artists. So if you can draw then it sounds like a great major, but if you just like computers and painshop then you may need rethink that too.</div>
