I like....except for a few personal preferences (it's me, you don't think you're gonna get away without and opinion, do you?):

1) Naruto should be in the middle behind the letters, twice as big as anything else :-) (in case you couldn't figure it out by the smiley face, I'm joking)

2) Mario is less than half the size of the PSP, which is twice the size of the Xbox? Sine, you made this didn't you? Just figured that you'd want to include some of th more iconic characters a little more prominently (like Pac-Man, Mega Man, Ryu, Dracula, etc.; believe it or not, I think you actually have too many Nintendo characters - Samus is popular, but not like some of the others). Quantity is the key IMO, but that's just my opinion.

3) I kinda like the old font better. Just looks good

Also, who's the character on the far left, sitting on top of the Xbox?

It's nice to see a new logo, we've had the same one for so long. The collage idea is probably the best way to go as well. Very nice

I like the bottom of those 2 better.

They're pretty good. Maybe a border around the entire thing would add some separation or something. Not sure how that would look, but maybe it would look good.

Haha if you DARE put that piece of shit DBZ on the banner I'll refuse to post here anymore.

I'm not joking, no DBZ

Well, other stuff that could put on there:

- Mega Man -> fairly iconic
- Dracula - same thing
- the Akira guy
- something from Miyasaki
- Edward from Full Metal Alchemist
- Minmei or Rick from Robotech
- a Chocobo

Just some ideas, obviously, don't incorporate everything. But the Xbox and PS2 are taking up quite a bit, is it necessary? Maybe better to have something like your second additional logo. If any system belongs on there it's the NES, it's the one that revived the industry and made the industry what it is today. Then the PSX for taking the industry to true mass market (not just fad like the NES and Atari did).

Don't be afraid to use the area above and below the logo for some of the ones you want to stick out (ie. you could put Mega Man shooting above it; obviously you'd wanna stick to some of the real icons (like Mario or Pac Man) for that.

Like I said, great idea with the collage, keep it up. It's great one, with some tinkering it would rule. Just be careful for it not to be too busy, though. The idea of having one or two big ones is great.

I think I've given enough advice. I'll let you work out the rest:-)

Truthfully, I'd suggest taking out the game systems altogether. They get dated too easily and you're going to have to start changing the banner every time some new systems come out. We're on the verge of a generation change here anyway.

Also, leave Vegeta in there just so Tessian won't post anymore :)

As much as I despise Dragonbore Z, it's not out of place to have the main character in there. Robotech was the first to break ground here in North America, Akira was the first to usher in the anime video craze, and Dragonbore was the one - along with Pokemon - that really started the after-school and Saturday morning craze. If you're gonna put anime in there, those ones should be pretty high on the list.

This is why you put in the NES and PSX, their appeal is more in the past rather than the present

Yeah, I thought about that too, but then it looks like we're behind the times. Like, NES was a ground-breaking system and all, but no one really plays it anymore except as a novelty. And it reminds me of one of those people that's like "Yeah, man! I love video games! I totally rock out Master Blaster!" Those people are annoying.

So no systems, just characters? Anyone disagree?

Anyone have any other characters in particular they want to see?

If you want minimalist, we can go back to what was there before ;) The font that I used isnt that fancy.

I can do a mockup with Verdana though, to see how it looks.

Okay, then I may as well say the new banner is too wide for me. Unless I Adblock the side images, it stretches the page wider than my Firefox window and I have to scroll horizontally (which is royally annoying).

However, due the way I have my dual screens setup, I surf on a rotated monitor - which is probably not what you designed it for.

I can deal, but figured I may as well whine about it anyway. :)

What is your screen resolution?

I made a boo boo when I made the base image..it should fit fine on anything 1024x768 and up, but stupid me didnt take into account scroll bars...once I get home tonight Im fixing that.

The images combined are 1024 in width.

I have a dual desktop setup here with two flatscreen monitors.

The left one is oriented normally (for viewing waveforms) and the right one is turned 90 degrees (for editing code). The right monitor happens to be the one I surf on, as I can fit more text on the screen this way.
The images combined are 1024 in width.
1018, actually, but you already mentioned your problem - you forgot about the fact that resolution means total pixels from the edge of the screen to the edge of the screen, and not how many usable pixels there are in a browser window.

In addition to the scroll bar on the right of the window, there's also a gray border going around the top and left part of the screen on this page, as well as a small margin between the edge of that border and the start of the left side of the image. Which, for me at least, adds up to chopping off a little more than half of Naruto's face and forcing me to scroll horizontally.

My desktop resolution is 1680 x 1050 (widescreen laptop). But the width of my Firefox window is about 1000; that's the size I arrived at which fits even the widest webpages and lets me keep a lot of my desktop free. I think that taking up 1024 across is too much. I wouldn't want a webpage go wider than how wide it is at washingtonpost.com.

I'm 1024x768. I really don't think it should be wider than 800 pixels or so.

On the bright side, checking my resolution led me to realize that I've been running on 16 bit (WTF???) color quality for some time now. I've been wondering why everything looked so shitty on my monitor.

As for Schala, maybe she should be centered witht he logo. It would make her stand out, which is the least that could be done for the girl who was the face of the Shrine for so long.

I still want to see Mega Man and Minmei, but that's me :-) I also really liked having Lain, but that's a personal thing
