$479 for 6 months??? Just because I'm male and live in the city doesn't mean I should be sterotyped as a shitty driver. I haven't had an accident since I've been driving! God I can't wait till I hit 25!
My annual income, as a graduate student, is $16,000. And I know that people in Biology and some liberal arts graduate programs make around $11,000.Oracle wrote:In Alberta, I have a friend who was trying to register a 2004 Cavallier. What are you complaining about now??? I've payed roughly $600-$1000 a year ever since I started driving. The only reason mine is only $1500/year now is because of a fluke.Barret wrote:$479 for 6 months??? Just because I'm male and live in the city doesn't mean I should be sterotyped as a shitty driver. That's pretty fucking cheap dude...about the same as I'm paying now and I'm 30 with a spotless record. One guy I work with who has a pretty fucked up record is paying almost $200 a month...insurance ain't cheap...if you're under 25 and only paying that, you're lucky...Barret wrote:$479 for 6 months??? Your rates got raised because you never had an accident? That's seriously faulty logic. Accidents are not inevitable, so being "due" for one is a broken concept.EsquE wrote:The one bit of convoluted logic that always bugged me about car insurance was, "Hey, you haven't had an accident ever, which means percentage wise you're about due for one, so we're going to raise your rates". This happened to me a few years ago...
That's what I said...all they see is statistics...the average driver has about 2 accidents in the time they are licensed...I tried explaining that the reason it's only 2 is because people like me NEVER have one and we make up for the idiots that have them all the time...just sucks...and its pretty much the same for all insurance companies...they just look at statistics, not the individuals...ignore the fact I've never had an accident, never even had a ticket, always take defensive driving courses...nope, I'm just a statistic and statistically, I'm due...I considered leaving but the other insurance companies I got estimates from were no better...Kupek wrote:Your rates got raised because you never had an accident?
