I'm not really religous, but if you guys could say a prayer for my mom and dad, they both stayed due to my mom's position, and it's got me on edge. It'd be really appreciated.
I'm fairly sure my childhood home is gonna be blown away/flooded.

I'm not really a believer. But I'll do what I can to try to help.
Do you have any information on which relief agencies are making the best use of their funds down there? I would like to know who I ought to donate to.

Probably good news. The Mayor has made some statements so it looks like he (and probably his staff) are ok. The downtown area is higher than other parts of NO.
News on the city as a whole is bad, though. 80% of it is under water, some as much as 20ish feet. Hundreds of thousands without power and clean water... stranded on roofs... yuck.

No, they suck water, mostly, but they have been known to suck cows, people, trees, etc.

Holy crap, I did not know the full extent of the damage in my first reply. I hope your families are okay, Eric and Flip.
