What surprises me about the editorial is that this not someone's column or a one-shot editorial from a single person. This is the editorial that's meant to represent the view of the editorial staff of the NY Times. Writing a strongly worded piece isn't difficult when it only has to represent one person's views. It's much more difficult to write a strongly worded piece that represents an entire organization.

But, but, but, but, it's from that liberal rag: the New York Times. The remaining 35% will say that it's biased bullshit, because the New York Post and Fox News is telling them that everything is great.

Long live Yellow Journalism!

Pretty easy to do now that The Shit Has Officially Hit the Fan with the Libby Fiasco.

What would take more guts is them taking themselves to task (along with other media) for contributing to an environment where things like the Miller/Plame thing could happen.

This, of course, is early term stuff, so nobody will give a shit during election time. The Republicans have plenty of time to repair their image to their usual "polished turd" shine.
