I just about cracked up reading the top one of these. In Oregon in the 1970s, engineers tried to dispose of the corpse of a beached whale with dynamite, resulting in large chunks of whale blubber flying hundreds of yards away, as well as a complete failure to destroy the whale's carcass in any sort of meaningful way. Pretty funny stuff.
