It also bugs me how I'm surprised when folks like Carlin die. That's like a punch to the gut. He was one of the fresher voices on stage.

Poor Eric-- so stricken with grief you mispelled his name in the subject...

I never really cared for him, personally, but I did respect him as a great comedian and one of those guys that really pushed the limits

I watched one of his HBO specials on last night... boy was he different back in 1977! I only remembered him as a crotchety cranky old man, but here he had hair and he was animated and his jokes were funny For some reason he reminded me of Russell Crowe, the way his hair was done. All of it was pretty damn funny; this was his most famous one (7 words you can't say, etc) and I was highly entertained

His earlier years before he was political wasn't that great. (Or maybe it was a stint in the 80's where he decided not to do anything political.)
