<div style='font: ; text-align: left; '>You'd think that if a director was given the chance to remake his own movie using most of the original sets and crew, but with a larger budget (and different actors), that the end result would be better than the original.
Well, I never saw the original, but it probably sucked if it was anything like the American version. All the "scares" were really cheap (they actually used the "oh, it's just a cat" bit), and the hauntings/killings were lame as hell.
The special effects was a mixed bag: sometimes decent, sometimes horrible. Remember Galadriel's transformation in Fellowship of the Ring? Well, I thought that sucked at the time. In The Grudge, however, the ghost sometimes takes on a very similar effect, and now that I think about it, Galadriel was much scarier.
It's wasn't a total loss, though. One of the Battle Royale girls was in the movie. Also was Ted Raimi, who I would say was the most entertaining performer in the movie.</div>
