Anime reccomendations for a nub like me...

Netflix has crappy new realeases at the moment and the wife and i pretty much tapped out all the old greats we wanted to see a second time so i decided to browse the anime.

I really like anime, but know nothing about the scene. I dont download fan subs, so my experience has been only what is shown on CN. I started watching Full Metal Alchemist a while ago, love it, and am currently waiting for the latest US release to hit DVD. While younger i watched stupid stuff like Digimon, but like the more serious ones better (although i dont like Inuyasha). I've also seen and liked ones like DB, DBZ, and Ruroni Kenshin.

I just added Elfen Lied to the top of my list. Is that any good? What should be a must see for me?

Thanks!

When they get Naruto on DVD, that's a must have. Also, some movies if you haven't seen them that are must sees IMO are:

Akira
Grave of the Fireflies
Perfect Blue
Metropolis
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke

Azumanga Daioh
Cowboy Bebop
Anything from Miyazaki that only involves communism but not environmentalism (e.g. Porco Russo)

That's about all I can personally recommend. The Anime you liked seems to fall under the current representative action Anime, which would be Bleach, One Piece, Prince of Tennis, and Naruto right now.

Hm...must sees...

Ninja Scroll
Vision of Escaflowne
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Ranma 1/2 (the first season, anyway)
Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin OVAs - but don't bother with the movie)
Martian Successor Nadesico

And some other recommendations of stuff I like:

Golden Boy
Ping Pong Club
Dai-Guard
Otaku no Video
Record of Lodoss War

I might add other stuff once I get home and can actually see my collection. In the meantime, if you want to get a sneak preview/review of anything anyone here has recommended, go to http://www.animeondvd.com.

Hellsing (dubbed, not subbed)
Samurai Champloo (Adult Swim)
Ghost in the Shell: SAC (Adult Swim)

Based on a friend's watching, Elfen Lied is good, but he said that it's the most violent thing he has ever watched in his life.

RahXephon
Record of Lodoss War
Oh! My Goddess and the Movie
Love Hina

I also liked Last Exile up until the end, it was sort of anti-climatic.
